I originally ordered Casablanca 1996 and had a few changes made to it (added more of a sweetheart neckline and had the color of the threading/beading changed). My dress arrived and I loved it, but then due to a family crisis, my fiance and I had to postpone our wedding. Now that I have had more time to notice more dresses, I found a dress that I had to try on…Maggie Sottero “Adorae”. I should not have tried it on, but I was beginning to have doubts that my dress was too plain and I just had to try it on. Well, now that we have reset our wedding date for May 2012, I am so torn as to whether I should stick to the original dress or go for the Adorae. I have not paid the remaining balance on the Casablanca yet ($400). I don’t know what to do…I feel like the Adorae looks so much more elegant, but yet at the same time I am afraid that since the Adorae is such a popular dress that I may go to a wedding before mine and see a bride wearing the same dress. What should I do!!??

@cec21784:I have to vote for your first dress. While the Adorae is elegant I’ve seen it SO many times that when I see a post like this with the Adorae being compared to another dress I’m automatically drawn to the other dress because it’s so different.
Also, I love how the top of the casablanca fits you, the adorae is almost swallowing you.

I think both look fabulous on you! If I had to pick one I would probably go with the Casablanca dress. I love the beading and the way the neckline fits you. The casablanca emphasizes your itty bitty waist too.
ETA: I wanted to let you know that I don’t think your Casablanca dress is too plain at all. Too me it has just enough going on.

I think the first one is more flattering on you! Your waist looks tiny in the first one! Also, the Adorae is just way too popular for my taste, but it does look very pretty on you!!

I love the Adorae but think its overdone. I think that the Casablanca look FABULOUS on you. Stick with that!

I think the second one (shinier one) is more flattering and generally better, but admittedly my opinion might be swayed by the fact that I really don’t care for pickups. Either would be a good choice, though.
As far as the dress being too popular, keep in mind that a lot of brides will go to Davids, and if anyone DOES get your dress, there probably won’t be much if any overlap in guest lists.

I think the Casablanca looks lovely on you… and I have to second the comment on how itty bitty your waist looks!

Wow!!!! Thank all of you sooo much!! I am feeling sooo much better already!!! I definitely think having to push back the wedding has given my mind too much time to wander and think about other dresses! Your comments and opinions have definitely helped reassure my feelings about the Casablanca dress! 🙂

It seems you’ve made your decision to keep your original dress, but just in case, I’d like to weigh in with another vote for it. I know the Adorae is a very popular dress, and I’m not usually a fan of pick-ups either, but I actually find your original dress to be much more elegant. Maybe it’s the fabric, or at least the way it photographs – the Casablanca looks much “richer” to me. I also much prefer the neckline on your dress vs. Adorea. It’s gorgeous!

@cec21784: My wedding was supposed to be in June this year so I understand on second guessing the dress. This site makes it easy to do. At one point I had to pull out my dress and try it on again to reassure myself! And hey, who doesn’t like playing dress up in a wedding gown anyway?
As long as you still feel happy in beautiful in your dress that’s all that matters. Worst case scenario if you end up favoring the other dress in the long run you could always try to resell the Casablanca dress.

i voted for dress #1 before i read that you had already bought it – both are beautiful and you are beautiful in both of them

I think the Casablanca looks AMAZING on you!!! I do understand how you feel, I initally fell in love with a satin elegant gown however it was SO heavy and I just didn’t get the same fit that I did with the lightweight tafetta. There are moments I wish I went with the satin because it is such a pretty material but you have to go with what you feel best in. I personally think you made a great first choice and you should stick with the first dress..just my opinion

I personally think the Adorae is plain… so if that was your reasoning behind looking at a new dress, your Casablanca is much better.

I like the first one! I personally don’t like the shiny fabric of the adorae.

i love Adorae. it was one of my top choices. like others though, i feel i have seen it so many times now. but i still vote for it sometimes – i try not to let it bias my opinion.
and all that to say, i LOVE LOVE your first dress on you. it is so incredibly goegeous and looks stunning – not plain AT ALL. and believe me, when i was dress shopping, i had issues with dresses being “plain”. lol. i say DEFINITELY keep the Casablanca…….but again, all that to say is that what is most important is how YOU feel. if you keep Casablanca, will you always wonder “what if”.
and now that Casablanca is winning the polls – how does that make you feel – that should give you your answer!
