I found a photographer I really liked. I sent her the deposit via PayPal and the signed contract via email and haven’t received a single acknowledgement of either. This was over a week ago. I emailed her to touch base today, figuring a week was way more than enough time to have heard back.
It’s like, I just sent you a grand. Would it really be too much to, ya know, say thanks or SOMETHING?
The venues I had contacted had also took over a week to get back to me. I love the venue we chose, but they also have really slow communication.
It just baffles me that in businesses which make money off weddings, and who must know that wedding stuff can be time sensitive, prompt communication doesn’t happen.

@DW82: If you need to confirm receipt and didn’t get a confirmation back from somewhere, I would call them. Not email. I know email is quick and easy and it is definitely my preferred method of communication, but there’s something to be said for a phone call.

@DW82: Eh, so annoying! Our DJ is like that so I know how you feel! I am actually truly considering giving up our deposit with our DJ and booking a new one who actually communicates. But keep in mind, that deposit is alot less than the $1000 you paid!

Pick up the phone!
That’s a lot of money to be letting slide over emails that are so easily ignored!
I say this to FI sometimes: We are paying a LOT of money for this, they can do X for us!
And if that means I pick up the phone/show up in person to MAKE IT HAPPEN, then dammit, I will!
