Yes. The network will want to distance themselves from this. Look at paula deen

@atacrossroads:  I’m not sure it should be canceled. I personally don’t feel the same way as he does but I don’t think he should suffer for expressing his beliefs either.  I don’t see why people care so much about what celebs believe anyway. That should be there choice.

@CBWFlove:  I agree. We are all allowed to voice our opinions unless they are not the same as everyone else’s. Pretty dumb. I think it’s a great show and should stay on the air. People can’t freak out just because they’re offended about someone else’s beliefs.

However this could be the final straw, as they were already considering dropping them from talking about their Christianity and praying on the show.

I read earlier today that the show will continue to be filmed and aired, but Phil himself has been suspended from participating in the show.

@FutureWifeyV: When people’s beliefs attack others and their way of living, yeah I am allowed to get upset and not want to support them.  FUCK people who are homophobic.  I wish they could live a life of persecution like those in the gay community.  That would surely make people understand what they’re doing when they perpetuate the hatred and homophobia I see EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Yeah I agree with @peachacid: (as usual!) – in this day and age, people in the public eye can’t go off on incredibly intolerant rants and expect to keep their jobs.

What if this guy had started talking about how black people are equivalent to monkeys?  (A common sentiment 40-50 years ago.)  Fuck no, he’d be canceled in a second.  Well happily, bigotry against gay people is also not acceptable these days.

@FutureWifeyV:

It’s not a matter of opinion. It’s not something like “I think all vanilla cake is gross.” He is being highly offensive to two classes of people. Homosexuals AND African Americans. Saying things like civil rights leads to laziness and welfare?! That same-sex marriage leads to things like bestiality? That’s not an opinion; that is straight up bigoted ignorance in the name of Jesus Christ.

@atacrossroads:  On one hand, the comments were completely unacceptable, small minded, and about what you’d expect from him if you’ve ever seen the show. On the other hand, Duck Dynasty is the most watched reality tv show ever. They won’t just cancel that because a redneck ran his mouth in GQ. They may try to reign him in, even suspend him from appearences on the show, but I highly doubt they cancel it.

@atacrossroads:  Agreed.

This man has no right to judge.  He and his wife have both admitted that he cheated several times on her and was not around for his boys for weeks at a time.  Shame on him for his comments.

@lovelyMsValentine:

This is just like Chick-fil-a all over again. Do you expect them to lie about their beliefs just to make people happy when they were asked a question straight up? Not to mention it was only brought up for scandal I’m sure. Christian celebs are always asked this question because it’s going to stir up drama, because the interviewer already assumes that their answer is they don’t agree with it. He may be intolerant of your beliefs but you’re just as intolerant as his! You live how you want, let others live how they want. you get crap for being gay just as he gets crap for being a Christian. The fact is no one is accepting of anyone’s beliefs and that’s the problem with it all. Should he have gone further than to just state that he doesn’t agree with it? Nah. But what do you expect from him, really.
