Let me start by saying this is the second time around for me and Fiance….we have 6 kids between us…yes we are the Brady Bunch 🙂 kids are 15-25. Our children make up the wedding party. I wanted to give Fiance something special for a wedding gift. He is a guys- guy so the jewelry thing would not be appreciated….FII volunteers numerous hours to the local marching band. This is a very special group of kids to us. The band director is Fiance best friend….I have asked the band to come to the wedding and play for us when we walk down the isle…..the Parents and Band Director are pulling this off for me….Fiance will just die when he sees the band….I couldn’t give him a better gift….I can’t wait to see his face when he sees 100+ kids in green and gold! I have been dying to share so thanks for listening….no one knows with the exception of 4 of our 6 kids…family and friends will think we are nuts but I know there is no better gift that I could give him.

Wow, that’s going to be so cool! Do you think everyone will successfully keep it a secret until the date? Great idea!

The kids are so excited to be part of the wedding! They love Fiance so much so would never say a peep. The hardest part will be sneaking the kids in before the ceremony. The venue Manager has been amazing helping with this alon with the Justice of the Peace. They are both so on board which makes the logistics so much easier. We are getting married at a large hotel so the Manager is putting a hold on one of the function rooms for me so the band can gather in there. Just not sure if I should have the band in the ceremony room or wait until we walk down the isle and then have them march in…decisions, decisions 🙂

@Njb64: I definitely think they should march down the aisle (I’m assuming that your fiancé will already be at the front waiting at that point). I think it would be amazing to be able to see his face as the band files in, instead of missing it because they’re there before he is and he walks in and sees them but you don’t get to see it.

This is an awesome idea! One logistical thing to think about: the music nerd in me is asking, “how are they going to be able to tune up before they play, and still keep it a secret?” Can you somehow get your Fiance out of the venue and out of earshot for about 10-15 minutes shortly before the ceremony? Maybe have the best man manufacture an emergency errand they need to run?

That is the BEST idea! I think you should definitely have them march in. It’ll be so much more dramatic and exciting!
