So my FI is about the most unmaterialistic person that ever lived. Except for a few electronic items and some sports equipment, he really hates having stuff and tries to accumulate as little as possible (opp. of me, of course). So I’ve been having trouble thinking of a great gift for him.
But it occurred to me that "our song", and the one for our first dance, is all about being in a LDR. How cool would it be to have it re-recorded to reflect that we are now together? Well, I emailed the songwriter, and she loves the idea and is going to do it for us! I’m going to go through all the practice/planning with the original recording, and then surprise him at the reception by having the DJ play the new one. I can’t imagine a better gift for him..and she’s like the awesomest person ever for agreeing to this.

Wow! What a great gift! That is soooo thoughtful and perfect for your groom. And it sounds like that will mean so much more to him than a tangible gift!
Is the songwriter the actual one who wrote the original song? Or A songwriter (I know there are lots in the industry). Who is going to sing it?

Oh my gosh, what a cool gift! I wish I had come up with something like that– my FI is the same way. He wants very few possessions except a few gadgets. I ended up getting him a Kindle…

Wow, that’s so awesome! What’s the song?

I’m so excited b/c I just got the mp3 version of the song via email…and it’s beautiful. I started crying after the first line. I just had to share 🙂
The song is written (and re-written) by a very talented singer/songwriter in Cambridge name Lisa Bastoni. She is absolutely awesome. I can’t believe how great some of the people I’ve encountered in the wedding planning process have been!
