I am so excited! We picked our first dance song. It’s going to be “Over the Rainbow/It’s a Beautiful World” by IZ. I am so happy. I love this song. It is so beautiful and sweet. And it fits the two of us perfectly!!! My fiance is a total water lover- loves all the water sports and all the beach sports and all things that involve anything to do with water so having this song by a Hawaiian musician fits him perfectly! And I love everything vintage and old and classic– all the old Hollywood movies and I love all the old music Billie Holiday, Doris Day, Judy Garland <3– so I think this song fits me perfectly. And because this song is a combintation of what fits us both– it is perfect! 🙂 It is especially great because it is so beautiful without being sad- which is something my fiance was especially looking for 🙂 yay!!

YAY!!!! My only thing would be the length of the song… it’s 4 MINUTES! GASP!
I know it may not seem long but remember its just you two dancing for 4 minutes infront of everyone… talk with your DJ and see if there’s a way to fade into something else, etc.
My Fiance and I had picked Unforgettable (Nat Cole w/ Natalie Cole duet) BUT it’s 3 and a half minutes and after watch a couple “first dance” videos of even UPBEAT swing songs we realized that even 2 minutes seemed like a long time..
We’ll prolly pick another song. By all means do NOT let me discourage you… it’s a GREAT 1st dance song =D =D =D

@runsyellowlites: 4 minutes!?!! I did not even check or think about that! That would be a very long first dance. hemm… maybe it will be okay though. We are doing a very small wedding with just a ceremony and a lunch to follow and will not be doing a formal/full reception (just the first dance, toasts, and cake– in whatever order) So I’m thinking maybe I could get a few people on board to step in and dance as well after a little bit and we’d tell other guests before the dance that they should do the same. If some guests see other guests dancing they might be more inclined to join in and dance as well? It seems like this might be a good way to go considering that this will be all the dancing there is/will be at the wedding. We’d might as live up our 4 minutes and that way the guests will get to dance a little bit as well 🙂
Thanks for bringing this up!!

I think having others join is would be a great idea! I’d probably start with the wedding party and then the parents…. maybe have different time markers that the DJ can announce/ask the party to join.. and then the parents… others.. etc
