Congrats! We haven't built but my SIL did and they ended up with an amazing house. I love that you really can build the house of your dreams. Good luck!
@MrsDibs: We are literally just starting to build. I have a thread where i have been posting our progress. All the selections etc and house plan. And I went and visited our block today and they have cleared it and got all the sand down. So we are just what it feels like at the start of the journey.
We were like you tho serious house hunting and then realised that we couldnt get what we wanted and if we did they were charging the arm and the earth.

That's awesome! We are planning to build our next house in about 5 years, hopefully the market won't have sprung back by that time, so we can get a good deal

So after six months of house hunting and some disasters we have decided to build our first home. It's with a reputable company in our area that does homes in their own communities. We signed our contracts on Monday with our floorplan and structural decisiosn and are scheduled to meet with a designer next week! DH and I are so excited!
Has anyone else built? How was your experience? Were you happy you decided to build?
