Not awkward - think 'fun' and 'festive'!!!
Someone has to be in the holiday spirit - be proud it's you!
LOL I'm sure someone else will come in dressed up. If not, they're all super party poopers. It's Halloween for goodness sakes!!! What are you dressed up as btw?
I dont know if anyone watches Modern Family but on the Halloween episode thats exactly what happens to Mitchell. So you are in good company and they are all just party poopers!
I'm a cat. Since I'm 5 months pregnant I guess I am an unspayed cat. lol. This is all funnier since I work at a veterinary school.
lol. I would do something like this except it would require planning on my part--I do awkward, though, very well. In fact, one of my coworkers questioned me in front of my bosses and the rest of the coworkers about what I'm dressing up as and I said nothing. Then he proceeded to tell me he had a Mustard and Ketchup costumes for my Fiance and me. lol?
haha. My husband left in a headlamp and sunglasses and said he was a chilean miner. I didn't even know what to say. That is going to be an akward costume.
This totally made me think of the Office episode where Pam dresses up and nobody is dressed up. But I totally took cat ears to work last year and nobody was dressed up. I work in a kid's home and I was there on Saturday which was actually Halloween and they had done everything on Saturday. It's fun though!
My friend just sent me a picture of him dressed up as a viking. This is all the more hilarious because he's like 6'4", with a thick red/brown beard and he's a big guy, it's a perfect costume for him. Apparently his wife and kids are vikings too, his wife knit them all hats! How cute is that?!?!?!
BUT there's only one other person at his work dressed up (as Smurfette). See? You're not alone!
We were told we could wear costumes, or wear Halloween scrubs. I soooo wanted to wear a costume, but when I asked around I found out nobody was :(
A lot of people are festive in orange, black and Halloween type scrubs- but NOT one costume :(
Lol you should own it!! I dressed as a college student - just wore jeans, sneakers and my college hoodie!
I am dressed up today too! Lots of us are at my work. I think some more people will come in costume. It's fun dressing up!
There's little signs around the offices here saying that if people are coming to work today they should dress up!.... No one is dressed up. Boring old engineers! haha
omg i instantly thought of Modern Family - at least you work at a vet school and not a law office!
@bakerella:lol my FH is kind of like your friend - 6'5" with blonde hair and red beard (when he lets it grow) when we get married and are actually living in the same state i'm totally going to have us be vikings! VALHALLA, I AM COMING!
@flamingred: awww too cute!! happy halloween to you and your festive hubbs!
Yeah I say own it! And that reminded me of Modern Family! I wish we were allowed to dress up!
We are doing costumes at work today too :) Luckily I am not the only one :-P
I brought in candy and put it at my desk and sent an email out to my group and no one responded or came by to get any candy!! I mean, it's only 10:30am, but still a little awkward!!
@mandb122: Yes! I was going to say the same thing! She's in the NY office b/c of art school.
No one dressed up here either. I wasn't expecting anyone too though...my company is too stuffy!
@flamingred: blahahahaha... classic!!!! Awesome!
@elliestan: I THOUGHT OF MODERN FAMILY TOO! I swear that was sooo funny...
I really wanted to dress up like the walking dead; then after jumping on the train, turn on Thriller... and do the complete dance! WHICH OF COURSE, I KNOW EVERY STEP!!!!
I support dressing up for halloween at work!!! Besides, sometimes they come in handy if you have a problem...
If it makes you feel better, one of our interns came dressed as Duff Man from the Simpsons.
Red Speedo and all.
I work in a corporate office, and he's the only one dressed up.
**awkward**
@crayfish: OMG!! A speedo?? You need to post a picture of this if you can get one!!!
@2PeasinaPod: I'm on it....i'll be back after i'm successful! ;-)
@crayfish: yes post a pic! that is so funny! Oh-also I would like to report that I spotted a ladybug and someone wearing pumpkin earrings.
OMG... love it. You made me laugh!!! Own it though, I took my daughter to preschool today and I was the only adult in costume, as an M&M, and the kids didn't want me to leave. I am going back to trick-or-treat with them at 2!!! Can't wait!! Please let us know if anyone else comes in dressed up!!!
@flamingred: there you go! See...you're not the only one! Though every time your post pops back up on the boards and I read it, it makes me chuckle!
I'm dressed up, but so are a few other people in my office :)
I'm rocking my Office Space costume, I'm Joanna and got my Chotchke's green stipped shirt and my peices of flare!!
Ok here's a pic of Duff Man. I work in a multinational corporate phama company (i'm a scientist) and it is very buttoned-up, don't-you-dare-stand-out coprporate. And one guy came in like this (they made him take the beer cans on his belt off):
One year I was the only one who came dressed up for Halloween. I wasn't too creative but I woke up and seriously wanted to stay in my PJ's all day....so I did. The next year, 2 other people showed up in their PJ's too. :)
sorry. :( we have csomething like 700+ people in this building and I think a total of like 25 of us dressed up today???
my friends and I all did the Alice in Wonderland cast - we had a white rabbit (yours truly), mad hatter, cheshire cat, an Ace of Spades card, the red queen and of course, alice. we had a costume contest so it's between us and the 80's rock band from IT. :)
we'll know who wins next week as everyone is supposed to vote for their favorites. :)
but yeah - it seems like BARELY anyone around here has dressed up! next year i hope we do wizard of oz - i'm a HUGE wicked fan and would LOVE to dress up as Elphaba (aka, The Wicked witch of the west!)
We weren't allowed to dress up because of the dress code. But we're allowed to wear jeans and sweatshirts on a regular basis!
Aw such a bummer! I am a Pediatric nurse and last year my Dr. and I were the only ones to dress up! I was Belle and he was a chef. This year everyone dressed up after we begged them!!!! Here is me and our department! My Dr. and I went as Batman and Batgirl.
@flamingred: Do you watch Modern Family? In the episode this week almost the exact same thing happened to one of the characters, it was hilarious!
@crayfish: Hahahahahahahaha. That is SO awkward (especially since he is the only one dressed up!).
I work in a small engineering firm, and while I could probably dress up (no one said we couldn't)...we do get clients coming to our office, so it would have to a pretty modest costume if any. So instead, I put on my orange shirt today and will dress up to hand out candies to the kiddies. I miss dressing up for school and such though!
