So I found one venue I like but it's really really expensive so I was trying to find others as backups. Well I'm having such a hard time because I've found that literally every single place that would be what we like requires a minimum of 125 guests if you plan on having a Saturday wedding in the summer months! This is sooo frustrating to me because I have a lot of OOT guests so I don't want to have a Friday or Sunday wedding and ask them to take more time off, but getting married in the summer is also very important to me so I can't change the month either. I am about to give up and just go elope somewhere because I'm getting so so sick of looking for a venue and not being able to book it because I don't have 125 people I actually want to witness me getting married :P

Is anyone else having this problem or has anyone found any ways to get around this? I'm so tired of looking at everything just to have my heart break after I fell in love with it :(

We are getting in a month and had some of the same issues.  Our venue required 125 guests on Saturday and you were locked into afternoon or evening.  We had to go with a Sunday wedding but we had flexibility on our start time which we think will help our guests since our wedding will end at 8:30 giving them time to make a 2 or 3 hour drive home, if they don't stay the night.  Anyone around on Monday my parents are hosting a BBQ for us to open gifts and visit w/ friends and family still in town.  Honestly, anyone that loves you and your FI will take the time off or just deal with a drive home on Sunday night to celebrate your wedding day with you.

A plus... some vendors give discounts for Sunday events!

    Welcome to the hive!

Sorry you are having such a frusterating time! I found one hall that had a max room of 150 and the next room was a minimum of 225 to book. We were looking at 175-200, so that venue was a immediate no go.

How many people are you looking at having? Why not look into having your reception at a restaurant? I'm having 45 people at my rehearsal dinner, so I'm looking at restaurants that have small banquet/meeting rooms. Or, you might be able to rent a section of the restaurant or, if it's in the afternoon (like a lunch reception) you might be able to rent the whole restaraunt. Just suggesting some out of the box ideas.

    Good luck!
