The boyfriend once got down on one knee to help untangle my bracelet from my dress (why he decided one knee would work better than two I'm not sure). We were only 17 but gosh my heart was fluttering even then. There is just something romantic and "knight-like" I guess about a man on one knee.
I hope this throat was ok in the end.
@Tickles: Lol glad it's not just me. I felt kinda silly gettin a bit of a wobble because I told him to kneel (I really did I thought it'd be funny to say: 'on your knes boy!' and it really was fun lol)
His throat's okay - he's had a throat and ear infection since the 1st and is on antibiotics but they seem to be working less effectively the last two days
Ahaha, that would be fun to say! And not to worry, you certainly are not the only one to feel that way. It's not an action that is part of everyday life so I think it will always feel a bit special.
If it makes you feel better, my FI faked proposed so many times over the last two years. So when he actually got on one knee for the real deal, I told him to stop playing around and didn't even pay attention to the proposal. All I recall is looking up and seeing the ring box. He's still a bit miffed that I didn't hear any of the actual proposal which he said he had been working on for weeks to get the wording right. But that's what he gets crying wolf. =)
When we were in Paris we went up the Eiffel tower, and went up the stairs instead of the lift. So, we were shattered when we got to the first floor, and I sat down on a wee ledge/step thing to rest. He crouched down in front of me on one knee and my heart started pounding!
But he was just resting too.... *sigh*
@flownmuse: Hahah that's so funny! One day we were feeding ducks at a pond near our condo and I looked over and my SO was on one knee and I was super excited..then I realised he was trying to pick up some pieces of bread that he had dropped ;)
Last summer we were at a Red Sox game and I was commenting on the Jumbo Tron. He said, "Keep watching!" and when I looked back at him he was getting down on one knee. Then he laughed and said "Just Kidding!" I made sure to punch him really hard.

...then on both knees and asked me to look down his throat to see if it was swollen lmao. Just admit even though I knew what he was doing, me heart fluttered
Edit: Feel I should point out that I am 4ft 11 and he is 5ft 6 and was bending down so I could see lol - does sound a bit weird since you didn't know our heights before
