not sure if this should be here or in the "grooms/men" section...it's makeup though, so "beauty" wins.  i just asked FI if he was planning on wearing guyliner for our wedding.  i meant it as a joke, figuring he'd immediately be like, "uhhhhhh no," but he came back with, "hm, haven't thought about it.  maybe."

i don't think he's ever worn it before in all of his 32 years, but ok, fair enough.  and i'll admit to some curiosity, now that he hasn't nixed it outright...i want to at least see him with a little bit of a smoky eye going on, lol.  maybe it'll suit him.  but then i like men who are just a little bit pretty.

any other bees with guys in makeup of any kind?  thoughts?  just for fun.  speak your mind, even if you think guyliner is gross.  i have thick skin, i promise.  ;)

Male movie stars wear makeup, so I could see it working for a wedding. My guy would never go for it.

Full on drag however...not my taste.

SO does now and then when we go to a big concert or "goth night" at one of the local clubs.

I think he looks hot in it then, but I'd be weirded out if he wore it often.

To each their own I guess, I don't know how different it would be than putting something on for tv or pro photo shoots.  I have seen some pics of guys were they were totally washed out or you couldnt see their eyes, so I can kind of understand why a few might do it.  My guy would never never never entertain the thought, I think that if he thought I was serious in suggesting it he would prob be pissed.  He is just a plain and simple guys guy.

I should have put "in context/ style" but NO, 99% of all males are not makeup compatible.

Some guys can pull it off, and I think it looks good.

I think I would be a bit insecure being with a man who wears eyeliner on a regular basis, though.  ONLY because I probably only wear makeup once a month or so.  I'm not a girly-girl in that respect.  So I would feel like he was "out-doing" me or something LOL

DH would NEVER be able to pull it off.  The thought of him in makeup makes me giggle.

I love his answer! Sounds like my FI. I don't think he would go for it, but I think it would look good on him. He has a really pretty face. I go for pretty and metro kind of guys. Hahaha

Unless you are Billy Joe Armstrong, Jared Leto, Gerard Way, Brandon Flowers, or Johnny Depp...you probably can't pull it off. I would be kinda weirded out if I'd never seen my guy in it and then he busted it out for the wedding day.

    @MissTatas:  lol, me too!

@doxielove:  i'm the same way about wearing makeup...once a week is a busy makeup month for me, so if he did it all the time i don't know that i'd feel insecure, but i might start to wonder.  lol

we're going to a concert on saturday, so maybe i'll talk him into trying it out then.  hm.

i'm actually kind of shocked he's never ever tried it, since he's an amateur rock musician and has a ponytail and everything.  he apparently even went through a brief (black) nail polish phase in his early 20s.  no ink or piercings though.  (yet.)

There is something VERY wrong with that.

My DH wore full on eye liner one year for Halloween. I would post a photo but he would kill me. Otherwise he is sans makeup.

I do have to say that my local MAC boys with their work looks of an entire face of makeup is awe inspiring. They more often than not look absolutely fabulous. Can't fault them for looking that good.

@HelleCat:  indeed...he even plays the pointy guitars.  his number 1 player for a long time was a gibson explorer, lol.  although he says he stopped doing the nail polish thing because it would would be all chipped to hell by the second day.  apparently the strings chew it up.

I like it if it looks good on the guy. No issues with guys wearing whatever as long as it looks the part on them. My DH has let me dab concealer on him, and would run a mile from anything else.

I would laugh my head off if my SO tried "guyliner". He's latino and very masculine, but not at all closeminded. I doubt he'd ever be into this and I sure wouldn't. But man, would it be entertaining if he did! I'm super girly and have tons of makeup around the house. I'm all for a good laugh

He loves it when I use fancy skin care and hair products on him, lol. Especially after he got compliments on his "glowing skin" at work one day. Hilarious.

DH used to model, and actually used to have makeup that was custom blended for his skin tone.  But I think blemish, redness cover-up is as far as I (or he) would ever want him to go.

My man wears Slayer shirts, bootcut jeans and work boots...so no. He's an alpha male and that's what I love about him, I really despise the metro look. My best friend's bf used to wear it and it was really awkward looking. Maybe if you're Adam Lambert and rockin' your own style it would look good, but I'm not really attracted to men that look like that, especially since 90% of my gay male friends wear it on occasion.

I said 'other' because I do think it depends on the guy and his style...BUT I abhor terms like 'guyliner', 'manscaping', 'murse', and anything else of that renaming trend. Just me venting, but it's one of my biggest pet peeves...makes me want to throw my eyeliner across the room.

Guyliner, no. Like other Bees, I have a jeans-and-toolbelt-wearing, firefighting manly man, and like my man manly.

However... my jeans-and-toolbelt firefighter DH does wear a mineral powder when we dress up, particularly if there will be photos. Several years ago he lamented to me that he always looks shiny and red in photos. I was in Sephora a few dats later, and their mineral powder was on clearance; for $3 each I picked up a few shades I knew would be close, and one was perfect.

It solved the red/shiny issue without looking at all like makeup, nor, I think, taking away any manliness. To me that's just good grooming.

On certain guys: HOT. I definitely know a few guys who can rock it.

On most guys (or in the wrong context): Not so much... a LOT of guys really can't pull it off.
