Most of my vendors are awesome!! i love that theyre understanding. we just found out that we'll most likely be moving our date and my vendors have been very understanding.
However, my florist is a snob and i wish i wouldve known that before. We've only paid her the $200 deposit. we never signed a contract. If we can't arrange to move the wedding to later this year, we'll have to wait to 2012. (we're already married, so its not that big of a deal IMO) I don't really want that $200 floating around for 2 years and she won't refund the deposit. it's so aggravating. she hasnt been very understanding when it comes to everything. but i cant help that FIs report date keeps changing. i just want to change florists.
I hope you get some news about the upcoming deployment. i know how hard it is to be planning with a date that may or may not work.
I would only work with vendors who were helpful about DH's deployment. I worked with some travel agents who would only book a trip if BOTH of us were their to listen to their spiels and when i said he was deployed, they basically told me tough noogies and I refused to work with them.
Also, military discounts!!! We got a few bucks knocked off our dinner tickets and they told us if we had to move the wedding b/c of his deployment (stop loss or something like that), they would be more than happy to oblige

I know there are some vendors that may extend a discount to brides or grooms in the military, we've already had an experience with one. But, even more than discounts are involved, I really really appreciate when someone is just understanding about the difficulties of planning a wedding around a deployment. I never ask for special treatment or discounts because my FI is in the military, but the fact is, his deployment this year will impact our wedding day, big time. I mean, there is no wedding without a groom.
This week was tough. He reported back to work and was supposed to find out a little more information about his upcoming deployment. And to my surprise (not surprised, that was sarcasm), he didn't find out anything, except that he may deploy much later than we thought. I have been putting off my meetings with our potential caterers because of this, but one called me today and I came clean. Instead of being upset for wasting her time and prolonging the process, she was completely understanding! She said that she would hold onto our proposal or rework anything we needed, and she appreciated me being up front with her. It's that kind of attitude that makes me want to work with them, and I hope we do! I finally got excited about our plans again!
Anyone else run into awesomely kind vendors?
