So I joined the waiting list, the SIUP and I’ve been reading the waiting boards like crazy to help me wait. It is working! But now SO has the bug, haha. SO took a trip to Baltimore for Thanksgiving that I wasnt allowed to go on…im pretty sure he just wanted to talk about proposing with his parents before he went ahead and started planning. Anyways, he is looking for rings nowww!!! How do I know this? Because the man is talking about rings and engagements non-stop…he will bring up a subject about someone else’s ring…or my personal fave, he will bring up something that has NOTHING to do with a ring, just to talk about it. I am so excited and obviously he is too, but I don’t want him to give it away! I want to be as surprised as possible when it happens. I don’t want any hints!!!!!!!!!!!
Should I say something to him? Or just let him talk and give me all of the details as they come his way??

@FutureMrsJefferson: awww, it just sounds like he is SUPER excited about it. I think it’s cute! But if you don’t want to know too much, maybe just change the subject each time he brings it up? I definitely wouldn’t tell him straight out to stop bringing it up because that may hurt his feelings.

Haha, it’s sweet how excited he is!
I wouldn’t tell him to stop (But I’d be scared he’d misunderstand and stop LOOKING at rings!) But I would go “I can’t wait for a proposal… It’s the best surprise a girl ever gets!”
So he understands that you DO want it to be a surprise!

@FutureMrsJefferson: this made me smile! Oh how cute!! Just let him enjoy it, sounds like he’s super excited and that is amazing! When he gives it to you it’ll still be a surprise regardless of how much he has talked about it :)t

@FutureMrsJefferson: Yay how exciting!
Next time he brings up rings say something like ‘Yeah, I can’t wait to be surprised!”

AUGH! My SO is the same way! I thought it was really cute at first but I don’t want to talk about rings, I want to HAVE one! Don’t get me wrong, I love that he’s thinking about it and planning for it, but having to think about it so frequently makes it harder to be patient. 😐

I’m currently doing that for my girlfriend too. My reasoning:
I can’t keep the ring secret because I’ve been on the bee and girls have said they hated their rings! I definitely do not want my future wife to hate a ring she will be wearing for a long time, so I keep showing her rings that I think she would like and thank god I did because we were on completely different pages. I thought she wanted a more vintage ring-so I was gonna go with an oval morganite, but when we went to the store, I found out that she really liked a cushion cut.
I haven’t told her about the proposal ideas yet (and never will) but I have been frequenting the bee in an attempt to perfect the proposal! so be careful, he might have an account 😉
this is probably why he keeps talking to you about rings, because he wants to pick up the perfect one, so let him do it, because you’ll get a better ring!

@veryberry13: Here’s to hoping! I think he JUST starting looking and getting his feet wet, so it could be a few months. But it feels so good to know that we are on our way!
