How do you auction a spot in your wedding? I hope something works out for you.
I'm glad you seem to be feeling better about it! :) I sort of skimmed the responses to your last post so I don't know if anyone suggested this... what about a pot luck reception? My best friend had one and they also included in their invitation a little card for people to write a recipe on and bring to the wedding. It was SO CUTE and the pot luck was actually really really great!

Here's the link!!! I basically just did it for fun.. no one is going to bid on something so crazy... LOL
A bride did this recently in Virginia Beach, she auctioned off a spot to be one of her bridesmaids. The Dr. Pepper Snapple group bought the spot for $10,000! Here's a link to the article: http://www.abazias.com/diamondblog/wedding/bridesmaid-spot-auctioned-off-on-ebay/
So you never know what might happen! Good luck!!! ![]()
I wonder if you could post this in some Star Wars fan forums and get some attention for your sale that way. Good luck!
What the link??? You guys are making me want to have a shot at this...LOL Now all I need is press coverage and the listing promoted and then I might have a shot...LOL
Wasn't there some girl in the news last week who did the same thing? I think the winning bid was like $5,000. Not sure if that type of thing will work twice... but it's worth a try!
Good luck! I hope it works out for you! :) Did you try contacting any of your local news stations to see if they'll pick up the story or cover travel costs for the winner? Reach out to media people...you just never know!
I actually read something this week that a bride had auctioned a spot in her wedding party. I think the going bid was like a $5000 or something. Someone named "Nick" won the auction and he turned out to be a rep from the Dr. Pepper and Snapple Group. Not to be a downer, but not sure if they would want to sponsor another wedding. I think they put in the final bid at $10,000 -- mainly for publicity purposes. Best wishes to you!
@BaghdadBride - yup, there was! She made a ton of money because the winning bid was Dr Pepper/Snapple - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25413119/
Yeah i heard about it I doubt i would be so lucky!!! I have e-mailed some news stations (the news here didn't even cover the other girl, I read it on the internet) ... The Star Wars forum is a GREAT idea. Oh my FI is a huge Pepsi drinker ... wouldn't it be a HOOT if they did it!!! LOL!!!
It looks like you got a bid, girl!!! Good luck!!
I know I just seen it and there has been like 4,300 people look at it!!! It's the crazy i never even expected people to look at it.... Crossing my fingers now!!!!
And now it's well over 7000 viewers and 7 bids!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
You should post this on the Ohio boards on CraigsList :-) People might be more inclined to bid (and bid alot!) if they knew they didn't have to travel (airfare ain't cheap!). Good luck!!
BIG FAVOR to ask... If anyone can think of anywhere to post my Ebay listing or want to e-mail it to a news or radio station etc... PLEASE DO!! I have 2 days left on my listing and it is bid up to $10 with 8,000 visits the visits are slowing ..please help me get the word out.... THANKS SOO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU LADIES!!! I know it is a crazy thing to do but I never knew how much i wanted to be married to my honey until I was faced with it not happening.
Technically you can still be married to your honey without having to spend money on a wedding.
You are absolutely right!! I can marry him without a wedding. My thing is after planning and paying for more than a year and sending STD's then invitations out to have to cancel is very disheartening and depressing. I have put alot of time into just doing DIY projects, basically everything... I never realized I was looking forward to having a wedding....
Well I wanted to let you know how it turned out!!! It went for $10, which they guy generously paid!! Funny as it is I am keeping it in the wedding fund on pay pal (i am going to order some things yet from Ebay for the wedding...hopefully.. The guy can't come to the wedding and I even offered for him NOT to pay. But he insisted (I didn't even send him an Invoice for it. There was a total of 9,500 + hits on it!! I just wish each person that looked at it would of sent me a quarter.. the wedding would of been paid for...LOL. Anyway just thought I would update all of you. thanks for your help getting the word out!!! I relisted it just to see... It was so much fun reading the comments and watching it...who knows maybe I will get lucky.
Awww, good luck with relisting it! I hope it works out for you!!
No no luck yet, however my paperwork to get my independent provider number in Ohio is one step closer to being done but may still take 4 more weeks. I did however apply for a position that might be promising for a Scheduling Coordinatoe in a Home Care agency, I have done that for 6 yrs and they only wanted 2 yrs experience so cross fingers on everything for me please.. oh and a few prayers may not hurt either...
I have an idea! You mentioned "if everyone had just gave me .25 cent it would pay for the wedding..." Well, there are certain auctions on ebay where you can sell numerous quanities of certain items (i.e. a buyer will have 25 candles for sale and post one auction where each buyer can purchase as many as they want). It would be a buy it now auction. So if you set up one of those selling 25 cent "shares" of your wedding, and really posted a good story -- about you love of fiance, being out of work, the lack of interest/support of your family, etc., you might get a lot of purchases. Those 25 cents could add up quick!. You would need to do a 10 day auction. Include lots of pics of yourself, and pics of your $5 dress from Fashion Bug (make sure to include backstory on buying that b/c its probably the least expensive wedding dress in history!) along with the jewelry, so that poeple will know you aren't splurging unnecessarily. I was really sympathetic to your story and maybe others would be to. I'm not sure how you set up those auctions -- I thikn they're call multi-quantity auctions or something. Let me know what you think!
Ooops i forgot to say, for the quanitity of the "item" you are selling, you would want to pick 1000 or 2000, so that plenty of people could buy shares if they wanted to.
NCB2B- GREAT idea! How smart. I totally second that idea. And...should have done that for my wedding!
I hope CBride sees this, I'm going to bump it up to top of page so hopefully she will see it
