I was just using the bathroom, and I moved the shower curtain with my foot while I was standing up and heard a little “tick tick tick.” I looked down to discover this bad boy:
I have NO IDEA where this came from. I’m already married(my ring is a pear sapphire) not expecting any gifts, I don’t have any jewlery with a stone like this in it missing pieces… It’s so bizzare. I know it’s probably fake but… It’s gorgeous!
Anyone have any silly home tests I can do to find out what it’s made of? I’ve scratched a couple of mirrors with the pointy end, but I’m not sure that really tells me anything I know I should take it to a jeweler to find out for sure but I think I would pass out if it was anything more than a CZ. lol

My first thought would be “Who’s is it and where the eff did it come from?!” haha Diamonds don’t usually fall out of the sky.

wow that’s amazing. Have you had any guests over lately that could have lost a stone? I would go to a jeweler just to make sure it’s not real. If it is, what a lucky find!

How strange is that.. I mean, how long have you been living there? What are the odds it was crammed somewhere that it never fell??? That is so weird. You have got to take it to get tested! For sure.. Keep us posted.

OP PLEASE TAKE IT TO GET IT TESTED!! I want to know now!! haha

@figgnewton: Ha, I thought the exact same thing!
Where could it have come from?

I’d be wondering who’s ring that fell out of! What the heck!

@ASH.: I saw this in a movie in the 80s so it *must* be ligit – LOL. Draw it over a mirror you are not precious about if it cuts it, post it be me because it means that is it utterly useless. LOL 🙂

Looks like a CZ from that resolution, but it’s not a clear shot… and very exciting to think it could be a diamond! Can you take a clearer shot?
Also, get under the best light you can find and scrutinize the surface of that bad boy. Do you see any nicks or scratches? Especially check whether the facet junctions have any wear. Or does it look like it was cut yesterday?
What does the girdle look like…. smooth and waxy, or can you see little facets all along it?
Put it upside down on a paper with some text on it. Can you read any text through it?

The mirror test doesn’t mean it’s a diamond. Lots of stones are harder than a mirror. Bring it to a jeweler then tell us what it is!

It might belong to one of your friends. Has anyone come over and used your bathroom lately?

As for where it came from, do you have a daughter or a son who had female friends over in the last few months? Is there a vent over the area you found it?

Usually CZs fog up and stay foggy longer than a diamond. Take it into a cool room, breathe on it, and if it takes longer than a second or two to clear up, it is most likely a CZ.

@MrsTVLover: The last person who was here who has a round stone was a friend who visited for Christmas but it’s not this big. And I totally would have heard by now if she’d lost her diamond while she was here! Other than that I can’t think of anyone!
@Artificial-Sweetener: I just happened to be on the phone with him when I found it. He asked if it was from his wedding ring which recently lost a stone but it’s much too big for that. Then he told me to keep it just in case!
@LoveS46: We’ve lived year a little under a year, and out bathroom was completely empty when we moved in… which is why I’m super perplexed about this whole thing, there just seems to be NO explanaition at all!
@figgnewton: I so am! Hopefully sometime this week because it will drive me crazy until I find out! I’ll update you all!
@Birdee106: I can be kind of ridiculous so my first thought was that there was a jewel thief camping out in our bathroom while we were out of town this weekend
