This is an update of this thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/so-i-found-this-in-my-bathroom-mystery-stone/page/6?replies=161#postform
It’s all about how I found this hunk of sparkle in my bathroom and had zero idea where it came from.
I decided to make a new one after the first one got 7 pages (7 PAGES!!!) of replies! I didn’t want it to get lost or something. You guys are so fun 🙂
Well, we went to a jeweler this morning!! The verdict is in and it’s a…..
Big beautiful Cubic Zircona!!! We both figured it was, but it was fun to go see anyways 🙂 I’ve affectionately named him Lou, because he came to us in the “loo.” I think he’ll find a nice home in a necklace or something, because he is mighty purdy.
As for where it came from, we think we figured it out. I had accidently washed a pair of my husband’s suit pants (dry clean only, woops..) and they were hanging from the towel bar near where I found the stone. I took them to get dry cleaned today and wondered if maybe the stone had been in his pocket. I asked him last night before bed if he maybe found it on the ground at work and thought it was pretty and slipped it in his pocket and he said: ” Why would it be in my pock- Oh… wait… I think I remember now. I saw it, wondered ‘hmm, I wonder if this is real.’ and put it in my pocket and forgot about it… Oh my God! I’m such a dope!” And then he was embarrassed, poor guy. So there you have it. He found it, put it in his pocket and promptly forgot about it. Some might find that suspicious, (a few asked if it was the stone of a mistress) but this is SO very like him that it’s not even funny! He has the worst memory ever.
Sorry this couldn’t be more exciting, but thank you all for following along, this has been so fun!!

Thanks for the update! I’ve been waiting all day hahaha. Too bad it’s not a diamond, but funny story anyway. I CAN’T BELIEVE HE FORGOT ABOUT IT. How is that even possible?! Sounds like something my FI would do, though.

@ASH.: Sorry it wasn’t a more valuable stone but to me a lot of the value of a piece either includes the sentimental value, the sentiment with which it was given …. Or a great story …. And this has been one great story which will probably be re-told in your family again and again until it becomes a part of your heritage and will in itself become an heirloom. What a lovely legacy to tell your children and grandchildren. It is almost 12.30am in the morning here in Perth and I couldn’t drag myself away hoping the mystery might be solved. So thanks for posting the update. I’m off to bed! xxx

@ASH.: you didn’t say what kind of book you wanted to write, but this would make a great children’s book…the found stone goes through all the grandiose scenarios of where it came from like what if it were a big diamond from a queens tiara…and in the end it finds out it’ll be a new necklace and so it doesn’t matter where it came from, but content to be part of something new. 🙂
