I am freaking out. Freaking. my wedding is in 2 months, I don’t have a dress, and I was to be on Keasha’s taping and pick out a dress Friday, but the producer just called and said her son is really sick so she has to fly to New York and that everything is bumped. They have already booked everyone else already and told me it will be another month until I am on the show or MORE and if I wanted to wait…
I have waited and hoped already for almost 2 months since this started. I did buy a backup dress just in case but my backup dress is nothing like I dreamed it would be and I am quickly hating it.
I am on a limited budget and have no dress, no time to order a dress, and I am so upset right now…

Consignment or off the rack with minimal alterations. It can be done, and you will look amazing on your wedding day. Book an appointment like TODAY and start looking!

@DaneLady: This. Or DB sells quite a few things off the rack. I’m sure you will find something lovely!

Try a department store (like Nordstrom – Wedding Suite or Bloomingdale’s). The prices are more affordable, usually, than bridal salon prices and the fit is more like a regular formal dress than a wedding dress, meaning less alterations potentially. Even if they have to order it, it may just be from another retail location versus made to order like a bridal salon. I would also look into retailers like JCrew or BHLDN.

I’ve been to davids-no luck at all.
Bridal salons have an ok selection, but I am not a sample model sized bride.
Plus, I have dress issues. I never said I was easy to please when it came to picking a dress–hence why I thought being on the show would be perfect!
Arhgh. Can this day get any worse?

There’s a great consignment store in Mississauga called GownandGlory. I bought my veil for my boudoir shoot from her and she’s SO nice and the gowns she has are GORGEOUS!!!! I wish she had been open when I was dress shopping!

No idea what the keasha show is (must be a Canadian thing) but I would suggest looking on preownedweddingdresses.com. They have designer gowns sold at a discount because they are either samples or used. Check this one out for example.
This one is new with tags even if you are a size 4.
There is always a way. Good luck.

I have my DHGate dress that is a disaster…my friend came over and it does need some work, redesign, the sleeves ripped off. I like the shape..kinda. I like the idea of it. I am looking for size 14-16, and 500 or so. I will have to get a used dress, or fix the DHDistaster….I am going downtown TO friday anyhow with my entourage as we already planned on going, and we are going to hit the fashion district and see if there is something there.
Who knows…..I am checking out the other sites suggested up there too…
Right now! 🙂
Thanks so much! I hate this so mcuh I am the pickiest person in the world with dresses. ..if ihad a ten year engagement maybe that would give me enough time to figure something out. lol

@fivemonthsnotice: Where abouts do you live? There are a TON of bridal shops in Vaughan/Woodbridge (just off hwy 400) that I didn’t know about until recently. My dress came from Sposa Italia at 4040 Steeles West in Woodbridge. But there were a ton of other bridal shops in the same plaza.

Have you looked in to Church Street Bridal? There used to be a thread (maybe there still is, i stopped following once I found my dress) in the classifieds section of WB. the shop also has a website. http://www.churchstreetbridal.com/, http://churchstreetbridal.blogspot.com/ (follow them on facebook to see the dresses now, I guess)
They are a shop that sells mainly samples (so they have a lot of 10s and 20s). All the dresses in the store are new (never worn at a wedding) but have been in bridal shops and will require cleaning prior to you wearing them; some require a bit of mending. The dresses tend to be high end.
The prices are typically $300 – $800. The money from the purchase of the dresses is used to help support the programs at the YWCA.
I purchased a size 16, lace, Winnie Couture dress for just over $300 from Church Street. It required cleaning and alterations to fit me. There was one small snag in the lace – near a seam that was going to be taken in anyway. This was photographed prior to my purchase.
The only catch – I bought the dress online, without trying it on. There IS a storefront, but they’re based in Virginia, and I wasn’t able to make the drive. The dress & the deal were worth it to me, but I know not everyone will feel the same.
