I have a medium-ish size nautical star tattoo on my neck.
I do not regret it. I love it. It’s pretty well hidden when I wear my hair down so I’m going to probably wear my hair down for my wedding in June. Few things I’m scared about:
- I sweat. A LOT. I stopped sweating as much since I’ve dropped like, 50 lbs, but I still sweat. I don’t want to get curls or something as they’ll likely just fall out throughout the day.
- I have super weird hair as in even though I curl it or put waves in it, it still manages to fall flat with hair product and without it.
- I’m likely going to wear extensions because my hair isn’t the length I want it to be. Extensions make my head heat up quickly=more sweat.
Argh. I don’t want to do a side ponytail on that one side or anything either.

i have a neck tattoo, got married in the summer and wore my hair down. It was just worth it to avoid the whole ‘lovely bride …too bad about that neck tattoo’ from the MIL and Aunts.

Honestly, I’d wear your hair however you would regardless of the tattoo. I’d rather put some tattoo covering makup on it or just let it show that have it dictate my hair. Because of your sweat issues, I’d wear my hair up so that the style held and I was comfortable.
I have a tattoo on the inside of my wrist. I didn’t cover it at all.

i also think i would use tattoo covering makeup rather than have to deal with the sweating!

@mrsSonthebeach: that +100
have a tattoo on my left wrist that will be visible for the wedding. If you’re happy about it, just let it show and wear your hair up. You’ll probably be much happier.

wear your hair up! don’t worry what others think about your tattoo. if you like your tattoo you shouldn’t have to hide it.

This is my third time trying to answer this post! aghhh! It kept showing me that ugly error signs! lol..
so what I’ve been trying to recoomend was using a makeup/temporary cover up for your tattoo. I looked this up while ago, and I saw many products online that showed complete coverage for small tattoos. It was water proof and sweat proof!
then you can wear your hair however you want! 🙂

I have a tiny heart tattoo and did my hair up. I don’t see any reason to hide it.

@KendraLeigh: I too have a nautical star tattoo on my neck, that like @Mollytov: it will be much easier to just avoid those comments from the peanut gallery!
I am however keeping my wrist tattoo visible, I’ve decided on having my hair up for the ceremony, with tattoo covering makeup, and the veil helping to cover it too. Then for my reception letting my hair down (I have a lot of hair, and when I wear it up, I get massive headaches) maybe you can do the opposite? Hair down for ceremony & up for the reception & party?

I’d cover it up or wear your hair down. Kat Von D makes some pretty good tattoo cover up concealer that would most likely do the trick. Being that its a medium size tattoo and not something small and delicate, I’d imagine if you wore your hair up that it would definitely be the center of attention to anyone who was behind you (walking down the aisle). It might look bold and overpowering but thats just my opinion.

I don’t plan on covering up my neck tattoo since everyone has seen it who will be at the wedding and no one cares however the one on my arm is pretty big and not everyone has seen it and I am contemplating hiding it just because I feel it may take away from everything else.
Excse the wetness, this was a pic at the shop right after it was done.
This one I am contemplating hiding.

SO I forgot to mention my thoughts on your neck tattoo, if most of everyone has seen it then I’d say keep your hair up if that’s how you really want it but if it’s just a matter of looking back and photos and thinking “what was I thinking” then keep it down.

If you aren’t worried about showing it and you don’t regret it, then I would wear your hair how you would like! I wouldn’t think you would have to cover it up, just because it’s your wedding day. However, an idea is to wear your hair down for the ceremonial “more formal” part and then pinning it up for the reception?

If you *want* to wear your hair down, go for it. But as PPs said, I think you should wear your hair in whatever style you want to and rock that tattoo. It’s part of you, you love it….who cares if some tongues wag?
I know that hair down is a big bridal trend recently, but hair up and off your neck is always a good way to go in June.
