And boy, it was enormous. It was so heavy I thought my arms were going to fall off when I was putting it on! Haha. Plus, I also looked like a cupcake. A $1600 cupcake. Not the dress for me, but it was good fun!

    Here's the monstrosity:

I think a lot of bees have that dress.  I just think brides are either a big ball gown type of gal or not - you sound like the latter!

Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous dress! I just didn't feel it when I put it on. I think I need to look at simpler dresses. :)

That's such a popular dress! It's gorgeous, but I'm with you on this one - definitely not my style. Some girls pull it off beautifully, though!

i was super excited about trying on "maggie sottero-hampton" then I went and tried on a dress that was about the same "fullness" as it and I totally felt EXACTLY like a "1600 dollar cupcake!" ahhhh and I felt 30 lbs lighter after I took the thing off...

I ended up with this dress.... :-) I'm in love.

Goood luck with your dress search!!!

Ladyjenn, you look gorgeous in that dress! You pull it off really well. :)

tarahartman: It seems like so many of the Maggie dress have that major poof factor! The dress you picked out is really lovely.

I hear you- for petite brides a ball gown can really overwhelm your frame. :o) I know I didn't feel comfortable in them, but I'm only 5 feet tall!

I'm definitely not petite, but I did feel like I was drowning in fabric! It was a beautiful dress, just not the one for me. :)

Yep. There are a lot of bees on here who have the Sabelle. I'm not one but it is a lovely dress just sounds like way to much for you. Good luck on your next try.

I think the Sabelle dress is gorgeous but I like you couldnt really pull it off. My wedding is a little too informal to pull off a large dress like that. Keep looking tho, I had a lot of fun dress shopping =)

Ladyjenn, you look ten times better than the model. That dress looks fantastic on you!

Thank you!  I originally had an aline dress, (2 dress bride) but found that the poof and the tight drop waist actually accentuated my waist  much more than a simple A line and I had to have that dress!  (which is a replica by they way!). But seriously if I could have worn 5 dresses I would have!

I tried on the Sabelle as well. It was so pretty on the hanger! But when I had it on, I felt engulfed in all the pick ups and such! I felt like a cupcake princess!

Yeah, Sabelle is a popular dress and many bees look fantastic wearing it. I'm with you on not being a big ballgown type of girl. My consultant made me try one on, just to be sure, and I felt soo silly in it -- like a deranged Disney Princess (just needed a few birds tweeting around my head to complete the look). Gotta admit, I envy women who can pull off that look. Post again when you find some dresses you like. Congrats on trying on your first one!

I am fairly sure that was the first dress I had tried on as well. I could barely walk around in it. It was a huge effort to even get me out of the fitting room and to the waiting area. lol. Needless to say, it wasn't my dress either. It was beauitful, but I just couldn't imagine wearing it all day long!
