Beginning this morning at my utter horror (woke up at 6 am to this), I found out there was no hot water for me to use to take my shower with!  OH NO!Surprised

Luckily my son had his shower last night so that was ok but I had to freeze and become a human popsicle this am and live thru that horrifying experience!

So what did I do?  Well I went to work and then talked to two of the guys I work with who are quite handy.  Then we looked up online the specifics of my electric water heater and we went thru a troubleshooting list.  I also called T to ask him that could he help me tonight with it if I were unable to fix it.

Anyhow, with schematic in hand I came home from work, well-equipped with the knowledge from the guys I work with who convinced me I don't need no steenkin' 'lectrician to fix this, and I got out me trusty screwdriver and lo and behold!

We GOT hot water!  I fixed it!  It was just the Temp. Control Button and the temp had somehow gotten too high and switched into the off button.  I hit that button, then re-screwed on the cover plate and the two screws back in place and we were good to go!

T was in shock I did that by myself.  But I did.

    I'm on "Handy Honey Bee"!

He he I already own a set of power tools!  I am semi-handy around the house and the daughter of an electical engineer so I am somewhat used to circuits n stuff.

It actually pissing me off that I'm seriously independent.  I'm in the mode now 100 percent to help me out.  I've been doing EVERYTHING there is to do around the house and be mom (supergirl basically) for the last 7 years and damn..I'm exhausted.

It's like I go to work..come home, do more work around the house.  Never ending process.

And I would not know what to do if a man did something for me.  Like take out the trash, fix something, or even change a lightbulb.

Last night I also replaced 3 batteries in all 3 smoke detectors.  That's just minor stuff.  I'm really proud about the water heater though!  In my old house I had a gas water heater, but this one was electric.  Bit different.  And I'm taking a break right now from cleaning my carpet in the living room. (courtesy of a wayward dog which broke into the house when I was at work!)

Much much love to all you out there!  It really does feel good to be able to fix things yourself.  Now change a tire?  I've only done it once, but it took like an hour.  NOT good.

I feel like the song by Destiny's Child.."Independent Woman Part 9,765".  I have a few more versions of it than they did with either part I or II!  lol!  Oh the lyrics I could add.

But seriously living each day the whole "the shoes on my feet (I've bought it), the clothes I'm wearin' (I've bought it), the rock I'm rockin' (I've bought it) Cause I depend on Me!" days have worn me the heck out.  I'm tired.  Exhausted!  Am I venting?  Oh yes.

Would it be nice to have  partner to do these things with on a daily basis or even divide up the stuff?  Oh very nice.  I am having a single mom overload/explosion right now and feeling a bit empowered, yet totally and 100 percent overwhelmed right now.  :(

He'd best get on the ball imho.  The independent woman is NOT cooking dinner tomorrow night either!!! grrrr!

Now it is kinda funny ladies.  T called earlier when I was on my way home with list of questions concerning the hot water heater.  He was asking "does it do this?"  "do you see this button or that plate"?

He he.  The next time he heard from me it was already fixed!

I don't know how you do all that you do, and I have crazy respect for you. :)

Will you come to my apartment and help me change the filters? lol I kidding. :p

We have to do that because when we turn on the heat, it turns the fire alarm on.

Awww Fifty I heart you too!

I have a devil of a time changing the filters b/c it makes me sneeze terribly!  I hate doing that.  And granted that would be one thing I will not enjoy having to quit doing either!

it's just that it's all suddenly getting to me.  I feel like each day is somewhat becoming wash, rinse, repeat on certain days when I have to work later.  I have little time afterwards (we're supposed to be having a new staff member hired soon) and hopefully it will change a bit very soon!  Really looking forward to having that luxury of another coworker there!

I just need a teeny bit of "me" time.  Calgon take me away!!!
