So,hi there. I’m Molly and i have been posting for quite a while now. I was originally planning this HUGE wedding that was to be held this past March. But we called it off. It was terribly embarrassing and frustrating but we are taking another crack at it and we have just booked our location.
Every year we visit this tiny, little island on the West Coast of BC. We stay on this compound where they have nine perfect little cabins on a hill. We love. So we thought – Let’s have it there! So we booked the whole damn place!
20 of our immediate family will be joining us on a Monday and Tuesday. Aug 22 and 23! All the cabins have full kitchens so we will be making all our own food, bring in our own liquor, and holding the ceremony and photography on site. We get the run of the place!
So, i swear i’m not bragging. I was wondering if anyone has examples of invitation for a 2 day celebration? And ones that say that accommodations are taken care of?
AND! Now i am going to go put a wedding date beside my nickname … It’s been empty for so long.

I don’t have any ideas but I love your location

@Mollytov: I’m kind of no help on the invite. But I would suggest a website to include all the details. Looks beautiful! Which island is it? We are getting married on Gabriola Island!!

@Mrs.RDV: It’s Galiano. I love Gabriola too though! September will be lovely.

Beautiful Location, have a wonderful 2 days celebrating with your nearest and dearest!! =)
I actually commend you, there have been a few times already I’ve been ready to call everything off and just go with our immediate families somewhere and get married, but too many things have been set in stone and I really do forget how huge even our “immediate” family is! Go with your heart!! xo

Yay, I’m so happy for you! I’ve been looking forward to seeing planning posts from you..
No advice on where to find invites, but I must say that your wedding sounds like it’s totally going to be kick-ass! :]

@brighteyedgirl: Thanks so much. I have definitely been more active on the boards lately as i have been archiving ideas. I’m looking forward to contributing more ‘wedding related’ threads and not just wisecracks!

I have a few questions….Are most of the people coming to the celebration coming from long distances? Have they ever ben there before? If they haven’t you have so many great options to make them as fun and creative as you want.
If you are trying to make them simple and to the point I think a “traditionally” styled invitation with a side card that has all the festivity information on it would work perfect.
If you want to get creative, look up destination wedding invitations….I’ve found some great ones on Etsy. You can get really creative there ie: put cabin numbers on the invites, include a map and a list of activities or a brouchure about the area…the possibilities are endless.
All the best! your location is BEAUTIFUL 🙂

It sounds like this is perfect for the both of you and you sound relieved of the stress of a big wedding. I just wanted to say Congrats and have a blast planning it out. It sounds like a fantastic 2 days of fun!

That looks gorgeous!!!!!!! 🙂 You could say something like Come join Mr. (name here) & Mrs. (name here) for two days on the beautiful Island of (name here.) For their wedding. & With it only being 20 or so people you can just call everyone and say everythings paid for. & Who you need to bring food or whatever else. Or you could have listing on a seperate paper with the invites saying what is paid for.

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: I think just calling/telling people what is going on will work best and i really appreciate your wording help. I know that my parents and his parents will especially appreciate having a keepsake invitation even if it’s not totally necessary.
ldybug850; No one has been there but out of 20 people, four will be traveling from out-of-province. I really love the cabin theme. Thanks! Do you think i should just do invitation to the ceremony portion and just chat them up about the rest of the arrangements?

Congrats! your small two day event will be amazing! I am also having a small 2 days event on a gulf island, Pender!
Except i think yours will be more secluded than ours, unfortunitly i couldnt find anywhere in the GI that could accomadate everyone, wish i knew about your place last year 🙂
I don’t have expamples of invites for you though, we just put our date on our invite snd then told everyone it was a two day thing as we’re having a bbq the night before. BUT i did make a website that had all the info about the island the day and the bbq.. etc…
I’m not sure if you have any out of towners but if you do make sure you give them really really clear ferry instructions. As ours will be on a weekend , (just after yours) i’ve also told everyone to make a reservation, you know what the bc ferries are like.. (rolling my eyes).
Congrats on having a date!

Wow! Three Gulf Island Ladies …cool!
@msflowerball: BIG yes to the reservations for ferries!
We just booked and planned this on MONDAY! I gave a few quick calls to family to see if people were up for it and let me tell ya – I still can’t believe we found two days where the whole place was available. Bless you weekdays! There would just be no way that our location would be available on a weekend. I’m looking forward to more posts from you! I want to peek at all your outdoor ideas.

@Mollytov: I think it would be perfect if you are trying to keep the costs down (as most brides are!) to do an invite for the ceremony and then make a website that you include all the pertinent info on (ie: reservations, cookout details, ferries…whatever!)
Like I said earlier….the possibilities are endless!

Here’s a post from yesterday where the bride’s Dad is paying for the accomodation for 2 nights:
