So I am on the master cleanse. This is my third or fourth time doing it. Today is day 5 (going for 10 days) and I feel really good. I can tell I've lost weight already and I have more energy as well. The first and most successful time I did it I lost 13 lbs in 10 days and felt great!

I will say that yes, I do gradually put the wait back on over time each time I do it, but this time I am going to focus on changing my eating habits afterward to keep the weight off. Plus I was working out with a personal trainer, and am still working out 3 times a week on my own to tone up.

I'm not crazy overwieght, but I recently weighed the most I ever have in my life. My take is, I haven't had an children so there's no excuse for me to be overweight. Plus the bigger I am now the harder it will be to slim down after kids. So I am on a mission to get fit before having children in the next few years.

Funny because my bf doesn't seem to care about my weight either way. But I of course feel more attractive when I'm slimmer and more fit. He eats so unhealthy (Pizza, McDonalds, etc.) that I told him it's his fault if I get fat and he can't leave me since he would be responsible. He pinky swore he wouldn't leave me if I got fat (jokingly, but still).

Anyone else tried the master cleanse detox? Any success with making it through and keeping the weight off?

Forgot to mention I am doing the cleanse because me and the bf are heading to Florida and cruising to the Bahamas next week. So I need to be able to wear my bikini with confidence :)

Also, I am 5'7 1/2 and I recently hit 160 lbs...the heaviest I've ever been. Unacceptable! My goal is to get down to about 148.

Just have to say, I'm the same height and was recently the same weight! But in less than two months, I've gotten down to 145. I'm thrilled! I'm not doing a cleanse or anything. I'm working out consistently and have slowly been changing my eating habits. I started off cutting out sweets and sodas (a weakness), then I switched over to whole grains, then I upped my fruit and veggie intake and am eating tons of lean proteins. Currently I'm really trying to restrict all carbs and eat no red meat, and I feel great! I definitely feel so much healthier--and lighter! I also drink water like there's no tomorrow. :)

Good luck with the detox! As you come off, I would definitely suggest limiting your carbs and red/fatty meats and sugars--they'll add the pounds back on quick. Focus on fruits, veggies, and lean meats. Also, I am totally loving Greek yogurt right now! It's filling but it's not too heavy. And it's so yummy!

I tried that for a few days but it was too close to my finals week and I had zero energy the first few days!

Its definitely a quick fix boost, and I know the feeling of being somewhere you don't want to be health wise.

I'm glad when your done you want to pursue a healthy diet and exercise regime to keep up the good work!

I'm gearing up for a green juicing fast for about a month to reboot before my wedding. I watched the documentary: Fat , Sick and Nearly dead- and love the recipes on his site and support group.

@parasol: I admire that you have the discipline to gradually change your diet, exercise, and loose the wieght slowly over time. I've never been good at that!

Thanks for the advice. You're right...I'll be sure to cut down carbs, sugar, and red meat and stick to lean meat and veggies. Can't wait!! (I get hungry talking about food, haha). I actually already started only drinking water about a month and a half ago. I didn't notice a change in my wieght but I just know it's healther for me. Going to try to keep that up too.

Is this the one with the sea salt water... if it is all the power to you, I lost more weight throwing up on that diet so it worked either way ;) lol

Funny you say you had finals, because I was actually on the cleanse when I took one of my finals last semester and had the CLEAREST mind I had ever had taking a test. It was awesome. I have a final coming up on Tuesday and am looking forward to it.

If you do it right you should not be hungry, dizzy, weak or anything. And you should actually have more energy. But the first few days can be tough and you are right about the mood swings. Those can get crazy.

@Reign14: LOL! I will admit I got TONS of studying done! I usually eat and study or make food to avoid studying.

Yea once you get gong on the cleanse, you get all euphoric and on a pretty sweet high. Its getting their that sucks haha.

OK....now I can't shake the cravings for food! I don't remember this happening before! Well, maybe a little. Last night I had four dreams and they were ALL about food.

I actually cheated yesterday and had two pixi stix. They were great and I don't regret it.

The way I usually get through the cravings is just remind myself I've been eating what I want every day, all of my life, and will be able to again once this is over. A few days of not eating is nothing compared to the number of days in my life that I am always eating.

I've come too far to give up now. Today is day six so only four more days after this. It's easier during the work week anyway. During the weekends I'm just at home where food is easily accessible, or hanging out where food is a social thing, so it's harder. At work I am distracted.

Can't wait until Friday. Even on Friday I won't be eating very many solid foods. I'll have fresh sqeueezed orange juice and maybe soup to ease me back in. And the funny thing is that once I'm finally able to eat, the craving will completely go away and I won't be hungry. Go figure.

    Just wanted to add...

I've been doing great considering the circumstances. I actually cooked for my bf twice in the last five days: dinner last week and breakfast this morning). We went to the movies and he had chicken fingers, fries, and a soda. He ate McDonalds in front of me the other day too (he always says he feels guilty eating in front of me). We went to his parent's house yesterday and his brother ordered pizza for the house.

And I have stayed strong through it all. I'd be lying if I siad I haven't thought about just saying eff it and getting a small fry from McDonalds. But then I think about how I am cleansing my system and it would defeat the purpose to just pollute it again when I am more than halfway through the detox. Plus I told my bf about my cravings and he said he wouldn't let me cheat. Awwww, so supportive of what I'm sure to him is a crazy liquid diet.

    Gotta be strong!!!

    Day 8!!!

I'm so over the food cravings. And I can totally tell that my clothes, watch, and rings are fitting me looser!!! Now THAT is motivation. Seeing results!

This is so worth it for the Bahamas next week! Wooohooo!!!!

@miss.nicole: Yes!!! Lol, too funny. But to be honest the sea salt part is only optional. It doesn't really work for me, plus it tastes awful (I can see how you would throw up) so I kinda leave that part out.

But I do the fresh lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and herbal laxitive tea. Plus drinking LOTS of water.

    Day 10!!!! Wooohooo!!!

I haven't had cravings in like 3 days. At this point I'm so focused amd my body's so conditioned I could probably go another 10 days! But I won't.

This is my last day, and I'm supposed to be going out to a restaurant with some coworkers after work, That will be the true challenge. Can I make it through the dinner? We'll see. I'm sure they'll think I'm crazy for not eating! Debating on whether to reveal that I haven't eaten since last Monday. Haha

Either way, the detox has already been a huge success. Yesterday I weighed myself and had already lost 15 lbs!!!

    Amazing.
