So far I feel like I have hit the jackpot with my dressmaker. I found her design on Etsy and contacted her about it. The dress will be custom made to fit my measurements.
From a communication viewpoint, she is wonderful. I have thrown so many questions at her and she always gets back to me promtly, patiently and warmly. As I am in Australia and she is in the US this is very comforting.
She has been very accomodating to my wants for my dress and has so far been really flexible and supportive when talking about how I would like to make changes to her original design. From the original design, we have changed the neckline of the dress and a few of the details, which i love even more! The original design had lots of little flowers on it, which I wasnt so sure of, so now she is adding beading details for me instead. She has just started to work on the fiddly details and beading of my dress. I even had a progress photo sent to me to check if the beading was heavy enough.. I think its perfect! I’m so stoked I have to share 🙂
I can not wait to be able to try this dress on and wow my hubby2be with it on our big day. I know thanks to her I am going to feel and look a million dollars!
But the neckline of the dress will now look more like this, but a bit more of a V shape… the back will stay the same as the original design
and this is the beginning of the beading that will cover all of the lace on the dress and replace the flower details… so in love!!
woah! sorry about the massive pics!

Very pretty! I bought from a local salon, not because I was scared (we purchased our bridesmaids dresses online), but because I happened to fall in love with a dress I found.

I also bought from a designer at a salon, I just really wanted this dress and wanted great quality, and I’m not into knockoffs. I did order a bridesmaid dress online from dressilyme, but it turned out really bad, and we bought salon dresses for my maids.

@wifey2be: Beautiful! Beautiful! I love this style of bias cut/ illusion back combination! Do you mind me asking who the Etsy designer is?

Thanks guys, I love it! I wanted a dress that was simple, elegent and unique. In saying this I wanted to be made from someone who designed the dress. I didnt intend to buy online originally, but as soon as I saw this dress and realised that its designer was the real deal I couldnt resist. I hoestly thought I was going to do the whole full disaster of trying on countless dresses from multiple dress shops!
After talking to her about it for some time, i learned that she lives in a teeny tiny town in the desert in south california and I take my hat off to her for creating her own line of work in a town where job opportunities must be scarce. What more she had glowing reviews and the examples of her work appeared guenuine and well sewn.
Trust me I tried to forget about it many times, but I kept coming back to this one. It really is ‘the one’.

@justjade: Sure! Her shop name is Design by Lannette. If there is nothing you see, have a chat to her about what you want. I get the impression she is very open to trying/designing new things. A very lovely lady.
