- Wedding: December 1969
Hey Sept girls, I got maried last Sat and wanted to share. I was a mood swing bride going from mostly laid back to wanting to kill me husband for giving me 4 months to pull off the wedding of our dreams on a very tight budget and lets face it not helping at all.
On the day my hairdresser was 45 mins late which knocked whole schedule off kilter which I was annoyed about as I was going to do it myself then got offered one for free, I also didnt really like the hair and make up, werent very similar to the trial. My bridesmaids did not show up until 5 mins after ‘Id walked in, they’re late for everything and I had told them if they weren’t there Id be going in without them!I had been trying to arrange lift shares with my mum for that exact reason but they didnt want to so they did the walk of shame up the aisle lol.
The buffet serving spoons weren’t put out and everything was still covered an hour after people were meant to start eating, it took me ripping foil off things for the ushers etc to help!
The good parts, all the DIY, the cake, the topper, the confetti cones, the bunting, the barbeque, the haybales the flowesr, everything we had hoped came together so well and was noticed.
I had got in trouble for spending the photography budget on a band but boy, everyone was up and dancing, there was even a conga at one point! Thanks Dad!
All in all, I wish Id stuck to my guns more about doing my own hair etc and not had bridesmaids which was my original plan but on the day we could not have asked for anything better, the sun shone all day, a minor miracle and everyone had a blast. The band when inebriated came and the last 25 guests or so sat round the campfire late into the night. I did not want the day to end.
So to sum up, I did notice the things that went wrong but it did not matter, Everyone has said what a personal wonderful wedding it was going back to celebrating the couple. Good Luck to you girls, dont stress!!
