@forever: I would find out exactly what the charge is for. Then, you'll have to do some digging online. I think renter contracts can vary state-to-state in terms of what can and can't be done and how renters are protected.

So our lease is set to automatically renew and we didn't think anything of it- assumed if the rent were to be increased we would have to sign a new lease as a renewal would be the exact same lease correct?
Well, there is a charge on our account and we don't know what it is for, I am assuming they increased our rent and did not inform us. Wouldn't we have to sign a new lease for them to do this?
It is a 6 month lease.
