I need to apologize up front for writing a post about pooping. Sorry for TMI.
About two years ago I was diagnosed with IBS. I’ve been pretty regular up until this point, managing my, ahem, situation with exercise, water, Miralax, Fibercon, eating fairly healthy etc.
Now though, its bad. I don’t like using laxatives, but I finally had to use one today since I haven’t gone since last Friday.
Is anyone else in a similar situation? What are you doing to control it? If anyone here is "going" regularly, with your wedding in a few weeks, what are you doing that you think helps control it?
Oh, please, give suggestions! I am so uncomfortable. I need to get this under control so I don’t have to go to the ER!

So sorry. I don’t have that problem, but a few thoughts. Are you sure you’re drinking enough water? When you use fiber supplements it’s important to drink more water, otherwise the fiber is counterproductive.

Usually I go every day (so lucky!) now because of increased fiber intake and exercise. I got really stressed out at work the past few weeks (diet stayed the same, but exercised a couple fewer days), and didn’t go for 3-4 days at a time. It’s nothing like a week, but it’s still a big change. This week I mananged to chill out, take a "whatever" attitude, and clear more time for exercise, and I’m back to being a super pooper. Stress is so bad. I was told by a medical friend that stress can be the entire cause of a change in routine. Take a step back, delegate EVERYTHING you can, and hit the gym and make some YOU time. And not pooping is a stressor too, so do your best to relax about it (even though it is sooo uncomfortable).

Do you like coffee? Try drinking a cup of coffee in the morning and then several (6-8) glasses of water during the day. Maybe go for a run or a long walk to kind of get your system moving around? Sorry, I know that sounds gross, but it definitely works!

Yes! Stress and traveling are the two big issues for me. I’m shy around new and public bathrooms, so traveling really takes it’s toll on me. A Routine is a good way to start – I drink a cup of coffee every morning (natural laxative!) and that’s been helping. Also, making time if you have the urge. Sometimes When I’m stressed, I put it off, the urge goes away and I don’t think about it again until I realize it’s been a few days. Good luck!
