Im afraid i wont be able to find the 'one'.  I went to David's Bridal a couple of times and the first time i had no luck, then the second time i went alone and found a couple that i liked, both are two different styles. I've been looking at the two online and arent in love with it, i want a dress i will be dreaming about every night and cant wait to put on.  Why are David's bridal dresses so plain compared to all the Allure and Maggies which are way out of my budget.  I cant spend over 700 and i guess Davids is my only option.  I went to a local boutique and they didnt have alot of dresses in the store only in their catalog which i would have to pay for it before even trying it on, want to order online but scared of scam, dont know what to do, going to davids again this sunday

I think you can find some maggies within your budget - check all different stores. I came close to buying a Maggie new for $700. Also, try looking for sample sales and pre-owned. Most Maggies are about $1,000 to begin with, so any way to get the price down would easily put it in your budget.

You know, I was worried that David's would be my only option because I was hoping to spend no more than $800 on my dress.  However, I found LOTS of options in other designers.  My dress was a Casablanca and it was around $750.  It had lace and beading and still fit my price range.  I would try looking at some other places, just to see if you can find something.  Sometimes you can find dresses that are on sale (i.e. last year's samples) or you can try resale/preowned sites online.

Don't get discouraged!  You might have to be a little creative, but I have faith that you can find something else that you truly love!

Da Vinci has low prices and some very pretty dress--I tried on a lovely, simple sweetheart trumpet dress that was $400.

Mori Lee also has some lower priced dresses as well--I know I've tried on two that were $560 and $750.

Granted, I don't think there is as much of a markup in Omaha sometimes (our boutiques aren't very fancy so there's very little overhead ^_^). But you can try on dresses and then see what NetBride or Pearl's Place quotes you, too, to avoid bridal salon markup.

www.netbride.com is a reputable online seller of wedding dresses.  I bought my dress from them at much less than the bridal stores were offering.  If you are interested in a specific Maggie or Allure dress, you can submit a request for a price quote from them and they should get back to you within 24 hours.  Don't force yourself to get a dress from David's Bridal if you aren't feeling it!

    When is your wedding?

You could also try etsy, or go a long bridesmaid dress route. :)

Nicole Miller also used to have a few in the 650$ range, iirc.

i was just looking at bestbridalprices.com and saw that Da Vinci gowns are within your budget! and it seems like they copy styles from other designers, including maggie.

from my experience netbride.com has better prices. so, after you see what you like, send netbride.com an email to ask for their quotes.

    good luck!

Don't settle! I agree with all of the girls on here--try to get a used dress or go for a cheaper designer! You'll just be sad on your wedding day if you settled. You will find "the one"!

There's a ton of Allure and Maggie dresses on preownedweddingdresses.com for under $700.. not sure of what size or style you're going for, but here's a few that stood out for me!

    http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/8656/Allure-8362-Size-2.html --$600 and includes veil

    http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/10900/Allure-8365-Size-8.html -- only $300!

    http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/6743/Maggie-Sottero--Size-8.html --$600

    http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/10517/Maggie-Sottero--Size-10.html --$399

    It's worth a shot!

Have you called local bridal stores to ask when they have sample sales or discount days? There is a store here in milwaukee, a little tiny bridal boutique, which normally has high prices. I would never had stepped foot in their door (where prices start at $1,000, waaaay over my budget!) but I found out that they have twice a year sample sales. While i failed to fall in love with anything they had (and their last sale was well over a year before my wedding, too early in my mind to order a dress), I found $1,500 for sale in the $100-$500 range! One that i really liked (but didn't love) was originally a $3,000 dress on sale for a mere $250! Nothing at all was wrong with it other then it being last season's design and the owner wanted to clear out their tiny back room to make room for this season's designs. Even David's Bridal has great sales online 9i've never had them mention sales to me in store- EVER). In fact, i have not been to a single bridal shop (4 and counting in person) that does not have (semi)-regular sales and promotions. One of our local shops has a deal right now that if you donate $10 or 5 cans of food to the local food bank, they'll take $300 off yoru dress AND you get a 50% off discount on limo/party bus rentals from a local company!

So...keep looking around! Don't settle for something which makes you unhappy! Check out etsy (cici bridal is awesome to work with and their prices and unbelieveable!), check out ebay, check out preownedweddingdresses.com, check out bravobride.com, netbride.com, etc.

    Good luck!

I totally agree that David's Bridal is not your only option! Don't settle for a dress that you don't love...you should feel like the most beautiful girl in the world on your wedding day :)

My dress is a Pronovias (designer from Spain) and I got my dress for $765. It is from the fall 2008 collection so the price was marked down!! You could also try Mori Lee and Casablanca gowns that are gorgeous. Or a dress that has been preowned??

I say check Casablanca as well. I bought my dress and it was $750. Plus I called also and found out the sale time and they were having a sale for 15% off. Then I paid in full so they bumped it to 20%.

Try Try Try! Do NOT settle!
