I’d probably go with high, but that’s because my biggest problem area is my lower tummy.  I would be worried that the low waisted shapewear would cut into my stomach in an unflattering way.  Is it possible to buy both and try them on with your dress, and then return the one you don’t want?

ETA:  I have some shapewear that is kind of a happy medium between the two….maybe try and find one that hits right at the waist line?  Easier to get off, but still gives a bit more coverage….

I’m torn, because I hate both types. The high waisted ones’ tops tend to roll downward as you move your body, showing a line through the dress. And then depending on the low/natural waisted one… can show a line through the dress anyway! What does your dress look like? Is a strapless bodysuit (looks like a 1-pice swimsuit, include built in bra) an option?

I bought highwasted spanx for under my dress. It fits all the way up under my brad (i’m short) so it wont roll down. I’ve already tested wearing it and everything was fine.

I went with high-waisted (all the way up to the bottom of my boobs) and when I took them off to pee, I couldn’t get them back on without taking the whole dress off (it was a corset-back A-line, not a mermaid or anything) so I just stuck them in my purse for the rest of the night.  We were done with pictures and all that by then anyway 🙂

I went with high, and I’m glad that I did!

Some of the high-waisted ones open at the bottom, but I don’t know that fastening them would be any easier than pulling them down in a dress.  I know that you’re not supposed to ask a BM to through you a shower, be an emotional support, yada, yada, yada, but maybe etiquette would allow asking they to assis with your crotch hooks.  Just a thought…

@lovelyduckie:  Your dress is STUNNING!  I definitely think something that provides a little more coverage would be good…just to avoid any lines since the dress is fitted at the top.  But seriously, you might not even need one!

@lovelyduckie:   I wore Spanx under my prom dress and had to deal with the same thing. I chose a piece that ran from my ribs/was high-waisted, down to my thighs like a mini dress. The crotch had hooks (like bra clasps) that enabled me to pee without having to remove my dress (it was too tight to pull the spanx out from under). Maybe try something like that?

@lovelyduckie:  High waist and cut a hole in the crotch for doing your business.  (You could also try to find one that snaps at the crotch to make life easier.)
