So upset with the custom ring process

Is there a way you can draw what you’re trying to describe to him? I work at a jewelry store, and not a lot of people are good at describing what they want, but when they look at pictures (or draw a picture) it tends to come a little easier.

I’m having a ring custom made for me in China, and so far we’ve gone through about 4-5 CADs and it’s only been about two weeks. The one image per week thing isn’t a good sign.

Realistically, the design process on the CAD shouldn’t take more than a few weeks (like two). It’s just a dude sitting at a computer, rendering the image.

What sort of ring are you having them design? Like what sort of inspiration pictures?

I am fairly artsy so I had no problems drawing out my ring, but if I didn’t have drawing skills I would just try to be as painfully obvious, if not totally simplistic, as possible when describing what you want to them. Have you tried piecing together parts of a ring on your own, like in drawing/imaging software?

I know how frustrating it can be when you’re trying to convey what you want, and it seems like no one is getting it! But on the other hand (not at all that you do this, but other customers we’ve had) it’s so annoying when people come in to the store and are like “I want the diamond with the glittery swoop thing, but not on the top” and we’re like ummm… what?
