@sunkissed19:  I think you need to have a look at where the tweets are coming from. They seem to largely be from young white males. They probably don’t care enough to educate themselves on Marc Anthony, and have made generalizations as to who they believe is “American”.

Can you blame them, really? I feel like the USA has such a clear line drawn in the sand as to who is “us” and “them”.

I’m not sure what else to say, other than that they are probably from the same group as those who thought that Titanic was only a movie, or that the USA celebrated its 2013th “birthday” on July 4th. Consider the source.

This honestly makes me ashamed to be an American. Obviously the fact that someone if born in America doesn’t matter- if they aren’t white, apparent;y they don’t count as a US citizen. It makes me want to cry.

The irony, though, is that Native Americans were dark-skinned and dark-haired—- so he looks a lot more American than a white person! (I hope that comment doesn’t offend anyone, I just thought it was kind of funny)

@sunkissed19:  I get what you’re saying. You’re American in every sense of the word except that some people can’t see beyond skin colour or accents. That must be really difficult for you and your family. 🙁

Tweets aren’t news.

(You can replace “wrong” with “racist”).

Dumbasses.  He was born in New York.

I have to agree with Craig Ferguson here about today’s youth.

@sunkissed19:  I don’t let strangers offend me. You can’t control how other people think, feel, or what they say. It makes no sense to stress over things you can’t control. You will just give yourself a complex.

I was born in Canada, and so were my parents for that matter, but I speak fluent Russian. I have had folks doubt that I was “Canadian” but really, what does it mean to be Canadian? It is just a mixed bag that there is no definite Canadian identity. The US is different. You folks have always have made patriotism, nationalism, and a stronger sense of who you are. Not everyone will agree on what makes a person American, Canadian, pretty, successful, whatever.

This is pretty awful.

This happened over a little Mexican-American boy singing the National Anthem at a basketball game in June, too.

People are fucking idiots.
