Sigh… I just need a few kind words from you lovely ladies. I love this place — we can talk about stuff that no one else understands. It’s awesome. 🙂
So, BF and I were planning on getting married this summer. Well, that didn’t work out because of school and finances. Fine. We postponed it until next summer! Awesome! SO exciting! I’m still looking for a job, and as a teacher, it’s tough #1 to FIND a job in my area, and then #2 plan a time to get married. Summer is really our only option. Maaaaybe Christmas, but (conveniently) Christmas and New Years are on the weekends for the next 2 years.. haha go figure.
So, yesterday, BF was saying that if I don’t get a job for this coming school year, next summer might not work out and we might need to think about postponing our wedding AGAIN until 2012. I am working as a substitute teacher, but that’s not always totally reliable and he’s still in school, so I will be the main source of income.
We’re trying really hard to pay off loans/save money/be responsible, so waiting until a reliable job comes along comes before planning a wedding. It seems rational and normal, but believe me, we’ve seen WAY too many couples graduate, get married, and have no job, no apartment… nothing. Yeah, not for us.
But… we aren’t living together, and for religious reaons we’re abstaining until marriage… so… umm… yeah, in that respect it also SUCKS. Also, all of my friends and my sister are getting married, and it’s just so. frustrating. to get so excited about getting married, only to keep pushing it back and maybe even keep pushing it back. Right now we have no idea when we can get married because we have no idea when I will have a reliable, full time job.
I know our choices are wise and in my heart, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I would wait forever to marry BF so that’s not the issue. It just is AWFUL to get so excited and start planning only to have my hopes dashed a few months later…. ugg!!
