so exciting!!! your play by play is totally welcome...i have major baby fever and want to live vicariously through all the pregnant bees!
It was our first ultrasound and seeing the baby and the heartbeat that finally made things real. I didn't have an internal ultrasound, but did have an internal exam and pap, which I didn't realize I'd have at the first apt. DH spent a lot of time counting floor and wall tiles. Poor guy!
Also I had so many questions before the appointment, but was so excited and flustered that I forgot to ask most of them, so the phone nurse got to know me real well between my first and second apts.
I second ejs - I also love lists!
Congrats to you and thanks for giving us an update!! :)
Ahhhhh, ultrasounds were my favorite part. :) Isn't it exciting to see there's a little human being growing in there? Congrats, Cheese!
I agree with @mrstilly seeing the heartbeat makes it seem real! Isn't it exciting?! I have a doppler now so I can hear it anytime I want.
For some reason my first ultrasound wasn't an internal one (but I was prepared for that since I'd heard a lot of people mention it). My husband didn't go to the first one (I scheduled it during school hours) so luckily he missed out on the pap. But I was so glad when he came to the next one because he could remember all the questions to ask! :)
WOOHOO!!! Like I told you, I was only an ultrasound ninja because, like a crazy person, I went and Googled "6 wk 1 day ultrasound video" and watched a bunch that pointed out the heartbeat. So I knew where to look =o) So excited, and LOVE the nickname Monster! Ours is peanut.
I love having this forum to share these kind of details with people who are obsessing over them just as much :)
So to celebrate your newfound knowledge, are you going to go out and have two cups of coffee (but no more), use that energy to exercise, take Tylenol for the soreness, get excited about the prospect of having a huge rack, and celebrate with sex?
Isn't seeing your baby the most amzing thing? Just yesterday I saw mine. I am 10 weeks amd 5 days so I got to see and hear its heartbeat. Most amazing thing ever!!
Yay!!!! I don't mind the lists at all... Mr. S and I agreed we won't tell "anyone" right away when we're (I'm? so weird) pregnant, so I'll probably share everything at WB too just to have a place to put it. ;)
So exciting, I love your play-by-plays Cheese! For the longest everyone here was my peeps, too, because we didn't tell our families for a bit. But shoot, you HAVE to tell someone! :) So, did they give you an estimated due date?
Ha :) My husband wanted to bolt during the internal ultrasound - he told me he'd wait in the lobby. I told him 'Like hell you will - you'll stay right here with me and we'll experience this together. You DO NOT want to miss the first hearing of the heartbeat do you?'. Once he learned he could hang out by my head he was MUCH better with the idea.
And this is a guy who works at a hospital and wears scrubs everyday!!
So excited for you guys and the little monster!
Aww that is so exciting! Im going through the same thing actually and it is surreal! And ya know what's funny? Our's looks like a little bunny! haha
Congrats, Cheese! The play-by-play is great. I am sort of confused though, if you guys haven't told anyone yet, aren't you worried that they might find out here? The Bees are obviously less anonymous than the other members of the Hive.
@Lozza:Dude, I have a huge rack already! (This is not bragging. I hate the heavy things... I'm at least a DDD. Argh. My husband: "Wait, it's even POSSIBLE for them to get any bigger?")
@sf_carrie: I'm fairly certain neither my family nor his read the boards here, so I'm good. Even when I was blogging here, they tended to read my feeder blog. I am def less anonymous, though. :)
Estimated due date varies from August 1 - August 4. Even the doc said her little spinning wheel thing said August 3, but the 'puter said August 1. AND my cycle is 30 days, not 28, so it'll be off a little bit anyway.
Much as I'd like a firm date, due dates are estimates anyway so I'm telling myself beginning of August and calling it good.
How funny, supposedly my date of conception was August 1st, so it would be funny if that was your due date. :)
Congratulations! It is soo exciting the first appointment :) and I love your lists!
@cheese: "My husband: "Wait, it's even POSSIBLE for them to get any bigger?"
Did you explain to him that now would be a good time to start following up any questions about things that might happen to your body during pregnancy with "because that would be awesome"?
("Is it even possible for them to get bigger? BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE AWESOME"
"You're going to get all gassy? THAT'S GREAT, YOU'RE SO CUTE WHEN YOU FART"
"Your boobs are going to start leaking just a little in the second or third trimester? YOUR BODY IS SUCH A WONDER")
Awww, congrats! And I love your lists! I have baby fever wicked bad (but plan on waiting till after the wedding - once it's official, all bets are off though, lol) and I don't know if reading the baby boards helps or makes it worse...hmmmm...but I enjoy them so I will continue to read!!! haha
@Lozza: Hahaha! Love this! You should publish a "How to Survive Pregnancy for Husbands". I'll be passing your tip along.
@cheese: As for snowboarding I believe a reasonable rule is that it is ok until the baby exits the pelvis at 12 weeks. Once I got on the hill though, I didn't really feel like doing it for some reason.
As for the rack growing, don't hold your breath on staying somewhat similar. 36's turn into 38's and 40's. It's really scary. Sorry to be the bearer of bad new on that one.
Regardless, HUGE congratulations!!! Summer babies are teh awesome!
@Cheese - Yay! Congrats! You are totally one of my favourite bees, and so very happy for you! What great news!
@Lozza- ha! that's hilarious, and I love it - it should be required reading for all men!
@DG - thanks for offering that info. As a snowboarder myself, I was wondering about this, for if/when the time comes for us.
Congratulations!!! You are going to be such a great mom! I follow your personal blog and I can't wait to read about your adventures in pregnancy.
cheese, first of all, CONGRATS!
I hate to tell you, but I was a 34DD-36DD when I got pregnant and I am rocking a 36 H-I (2 sized cups for nursing) 3 months post partum. I was in a 36FF in my last trimester and it was getting tight. Even specialty stores have very limited selection for me, lol, and sadly it took me over 3 months to get fitted post-baby, but I had these (which I highly recommend for hospital then later sleep bras after you get a chance to get fitted) in M++. I don't even want to know what size I would've been when my milk came in, but luckily things have recently evened out. I looked like a p*rn star, lol.

(bought on sale @CVS.com, tanks bought on sale @ Target.com)
Very cool! Congrats and thanks for the peek behind the curtains!
@cannotwait:Um, yea. I'm beginning to suspect this will happen to me. My bras are no longer fitting and I have that extra boob between the boobs thing that happens. Argh.
Like an idiot, I went to Target thinking I'd grab another shelf bra tank top for sleeping (because yowza, these suckers HURT) and a bigger bra, but (duh) they don't carry my kind of sizes. I know this.
So, let the online shopping begin. Thanks for the link!
I was a 36/38D depending on the brand. I'm at 26 weeks and now a 40DD. I can't imagine right after the baby is born!
Hm...well i'm a 32A, and I'm totally hoping that I at least upgrade to B status. I'm almost 5 weeks, and they're already filling out a bit. This is kind of an awesome bonus after all the other inconveniences I have ahead of me!
@sand dollar: Congrats!! I started out as a 34A, and I've progressed to a full 34B. I'm pretty sure that I will be reaching the C status very soon, and I'm 20 weeks along right now.

Is it bad form to provide play-by-play's? I haven't really told anyone so you guys are my peeps. :)
We had an internal ultrasound yesterday at our first prenatal visit (two things: 1 - I just realized I can say "our" even if I'm not meaning me + husband, but rather me + monster; 2 - he was a very embarrassed audience during my pap smear... hilarious!).
They saw a sac, baby, and heartbeat (we are not ultrasound ninjas so we couldn't see the heartbeat, but were assured it was there). It was very surreal.
Best comment (from my bff's husband, who is one of three people that knows): "It looks like a seal. Are they set on having a human baby?"
That is all. (I wuv you guys.)
~~~
For those who care (like me, before yesterday):
Paint: fine with ventilation, so not this month, for example.
Tylenol: fine. Advil: never.
Omega-3 supplements: fine.
Snowboarding: fine, unless you suck (like me), in which case risk of breaking something and needing anesthesia is a bad idea, so no.
Frontline/ Advantage: fine, but don't roll around in it naked or anything.
Reflux: I got a scrip.
Breast size: yes, likely to increase, but for those well-endowed probably not a full two sizes, nor will they necessarily shrink to smaller-than-original afterward.
Gummie vitamins: fine, even without a folic acid supplement.
Sex and exercise: highly recommended.
Caffeine: limit to the equivalent of two cups per day total.
