absolutely nothing.  The town we are currently in, you can’t get a decent two bedroom apartment under 500K.

In my area, $200,000.00 can theoretically get you a 800 sq. ft. house. Unfortunately, almost every single property listed under $200,000.00 gets taken into a bidding war and goes for way over that price. My FI’s SIL just sold her 700 sq. ft. place; put it on the market for $180,000.00 and got $225,000.00 for it. :S

In my particular area, a new 1-2 bedroom condo or one of these guys (which for sure needs to be gutted)

There was a house in our neighborhood that just closed for $199,000.  1900 square feet, 3 bed, 3 bath.  The house had originally been purchased by flippers and they added in new hardwood floors, updated the kitchen and counters, updated the bathrooms, and added a fence to the backyard.  It’s also in a central location of our town and is in walking distance of the downtown area.

Suburbs: a small fixer-upper 3-br house in a good school zone/district, or a pretty nice 4 or 5 br house in a less-good school zone/district

In Town: absolutey nothing. 1/2 of a small townhouse maybe? Haha.

Just searched on the website I used during my house hunting, and I got 118 results back for houses between 195K and 205K.  They were all 3-6 bedrooms and 1.5 to 3 baths.

Not saying they’re all in the nice part of town, though…

In Manhattan? Not much. Maybe a really small studio in a less desireable area? If you go a little above that though you can get a cute studio!

Probably a condo……a very small condo.  Not what we would like at all, lol.

a 30 year old 1 bedroom 1 bath condo (about 900-1000 square feet), or a 3 bedroom home that needs to be completely ripped out, and is in a flood zone.

No results in that price range in Vancouver.
