Alright we all know that even though we have over a year, we cannot wait to start planning and getting things done. So... why not share??
I have my invitations done, flower girl basket, grust book, pens, and servers done.
My favor ideas are there and the tables names....
Maybe we can inspire each other too
http://s709.photobucket.com/albums/ww96/liltexasbride/?newest=1
Venue (ceremony and reception same place) is booked, narrowed down photographer, have wedding bands already, have cake server, toasting glasses, Lanterns for my centerpieces (boy have I been stalking lots of places and websites for these babies). I want to start working on a design for the invitations. Oh and we have an officiant, my uncle will marry us. He isn't a minister but I am very close to him ( we are 10 yrs apart in age) and I would love for him to be the one to marry us. Love the idea of being married by someone you know.
That's it so far.
We have our church booked, venue booked, photographer booked and are working on a contract with our DJ. Other then that I have lots of ideas/inspirations but nothing set in stone yet because I am afraid I will change my mind! Oh and we have our servers and toasting flutes too but mostly because they were engagement gifts :)
Well I have a few major things taken care of & then a bunch of random stuff too. We mailed the deposit out for our ceremony & reception venue on Saturday, so that is a weight off my shoulders! I bought my wedding gown & have asked my bridesmaids.
I have all of the supplies for DIY invitations, menus, favor boxes, & thank you cards. I've already sent out my Engagement Announcements, but have not done anything for the Save the Dates.
We also have crystal toasting glasses & I bought cute little flowergirl bags/baskets for the ceremony. We started on our registry, but haven't gotten very far with that yet.
One key element I have still not figured out is which colors to do the wedding in. That kinda prevents me from going much further at this point!
Lets see. I have my venue, photographer, florist, bakery and have narrowed it down to two caterers. I know my centerpieces, linens, have ideas for my bridal party and know what my invitations will look like!
Y'all are AWESOME! i'm getting married June 5, 2010 and have the location nailed down. I'm meeting with photographers next week! Thats it! EEkk!
Oh NO! you guys are doing so well, I feel like I'm lagging
. I have my venue ( with caterer) and my dress. I have narrowed photographers down to two or three and have started researching DIY centerpieces. did everyone officially ask their girls to be bridesmaids yet?
We are certainly a bunch of busy bees! I'm May, but I thought I'd jump in (hope y'all don't mind).
Venue booked (ceremony and reception in same place). Photographer booked. Proposal in from caterer and being tweaked. Found a place to order nut-free cupcakes! Some readings chosen for the ceremony. Rehearsal dinner site picked--waiting on menu proposal. Decided to use a birdcage veil. Bought a dress--but it might not be the one (yet). Chosen the look of the linens and chairs, but need to order from the pink hippo. Website created. Stocking up on lanterns. Picked out invitations. Sent out emails to possible bands--waiting to hear back.
So..major things left? Florist. Officiant. Band. Photobooth. Accessories. Design.
Too fun!
@ marylizbeth - That's the main project I've been working on! I'm making them all small scrapbooks with pictures from throughout our whole friendship. It's time consuming, but so fun to go through all the pictures and memories!
I feel so behind! I've done a lot of research and have a lot of ideas, but don't have anything set in stone yet. We're going to get a lot of it done this summer when I'm home from school and in the actual city we're getting married in! How is everyone else asking their bridesmaids? Or if you've done it already, what did you do?
So far I've bought my dress and booked the venue (which I love!). My FI and I decided on colors the other day, so that's finally settled, but other than that I'm still price checking and gathering ideas. I have already asked my bridesmaids - I made them cute cards and mailed them since 3 of the 4 girls are out of state. They loved them and thought I had bought them instead of making them!
So... Reception site - waiting to receive paper contract for signature + deposit. Officiant and church - booked, and we've begun meeting with the priest. Photographer - booked. Florist and DJ - possible to book them through reception site, once we've paid the deposit I plan on setting up meetings with them. Bridesmaids dresses - I have done lots of research and have saved many inspiration pictures - but pretty sure I'll just give basic guidelines and let them pick out their own dresses. Attendants - waiting to be home this summer to ask in person although some people (ie my sister) already know. Save-the-dates - done, just need to print them. Invitations - have ideas but nothing too definite yet. Colors - choosen according to venue colors... And I think that's about it for now (besides of course the 10,000 other ideas swimming through my head at any given moment)!
@ marylizbeth and lauralou852 :
When I aksed the girls to be my bridesmaids i got it kind of easy. Four (counting the maid of honor) are family. (2 sisters, a cousin and my aunt that is like my cousin) the last was my best friend so it was almost a given that she would be a bridesmaid since she is like my sister. With all of them it was either a personal phone call or day out and I just told them how much our friendships had meant to me and that I would be so honored if they were in my wedding since they were such a bid part of the rest of my life.
I have:
Hmm, let me think. I have:
....and I think that's it! I am meeting with florists starting next week, and we have an idea of what DJ we want. I can't believe it's still over a year away!
Well, I have begun to realize that my vision doesn't exactly jive with my future husband's. But we have picked out our colors, I have ordered my dress and asked girls to be bridesmaids (one already dropped out). We have a photographer (my brother is a photograpeher so that was easy) Bridesmaids are picking up dresses as we speak. Thats about it. We can't decide on the city we want to pick but we are thinking Appleton.
Good Luck,
Amber
We have the ceremony and reception site booked, as well as the DJ. The colors are decided and we've pretty much settled on a florist, just have to finalize. I'd say we're ok for still being over a year out, and I plan to do a lot more this summer :)
We haver ceremony, reception booked. Have order my dress. Photographer, invitations. Bridal party and even decided on the girls dresses. Colors choosen as well
So far, we have the church and the reception site booked. We need to meet with the caterer, but he's the only one we can use at our site, so that's been decided. I've asked a couple friends to be my bridesmaids and told his sister-in-law that we want his youngest niece to be the flower girl. Oh, and we've decided on our colors!
Oh my oh my! I feel so behind reading your posts. I am in sort of a frustrating situation of having to plan my wedding long distance. I am in the military living in Nebraska trying to plan a California wedding for June 12th 2010 (That is unless my FI's deployment schedule gets in the way.) I have spent many many overwhelming hours on the internet looking for venues ($,$,$, and $) and Just started figuring out a color scheme in my head. I just got the last of my announcements out (whew!) Did you know it's impossible to do anything with out a date? You probably do. So this is my pressure release vent. I am really excited, just difficult from so far with the not being able to check places out and meet venders in person. We do have our registry completed and a potential photographer. OH and the colors. We have colors. Deep fiery oranges, deep purples, lots and lots of green with maybe copper dresses for my girls.
Man, I feel like I've already done so much, so I've put my giant "to do" list into my Google calendar to spread it out a bit more! I've got the ceremony/reception site booked, photographer, room block, website almost done, decided on the cupcake baker, and made and sent the wedding party invites (everyone is out of state). I've then spent hours and hours doing mock ups in PhotoShop, since I can't visualize anything! I've got custom shoes, all the invites, place cards, programs, save the dates, thank you cards, cupcake stand, arch, favors, how the tables should be arranged, place settings, flower arrangements and a card box all mocked up on my computer! Once I actually make all these things, I'll be sure to post my PhotoShop vision along side the actual finished product, so everyone can see how well (or poorly) my mock up craziness went!
@ CAbrideinNE - I know what you mean! I'm just at school in a different city, though, so I'll be home (in the city we're getting married in) for the summer and will hopefully get a lot of the planning done. I saw you're both in the Air Force - That's awesome. My best friend and her FI are also both in the Air Force so I kinda know what you're going through! Best of luck!
Considering that I am overseas, we've done a lot, thanks in part to my fiance! Because of him, we have the ceremony and more recently the reception booked, which is big (nice to know that date in that venue is ours for sure). I've asked all my bridesmaids and he has asked two groomsmen including his best man. I have tons of ideas and inspiration photos and to do lists, but I'm really excited to get back to the US in early June to really jump into action! I have a meeting with a photographer set up, and I'd like to set up a meeting with our catering manager and start dress shopping in June or early July! I'm really excited to start "planning for real" once I am back home.
Wow, I feel very behind now! :( Haven't booked anything but looking at evening reception locations in a couple weeks! :)
Daniellemybelle - Don't worry about it too much! I think everyone is different in how they plan, plus different parts of the country have different levels of supply and demand. For me, booking the ceremony right away was really important because we're getting married at a service academy chapel and those spots fill up fast. Then once we identified our possible reception spot I didn't want anyone to snag it up! But you have plenty of time for everything - people often plan weddings in 6 months or less!
My wedding date has changed from June 19th to the 26th 2010.....since I last posted I have booked a ceremony venu and a reception venu. The reception venu requires that the caterer be finalized within 30 days of booking the venu. I need to get busy lol. I have the bridesmaid dresses purchased, my table decorations in progress and our wedding scrapbook/guest book.
I feel like I have had the most productive two weeks ever.![]()
Wow.... I feel somewhat behind reading what everyone else has done. Although, I am moving on the 22 so I have stuff packed and all and cannot get to it all.
Well we are planning on getting married in June of 2010, but that may change...for now we will pertend that its set...hehe![]()
-We have found a venue for the wedding are reception(just waiting on family reunion dates and such to be announced so we can set the wedding)long story
-I have my dress
-We have some of the decortions(poms, archway)
-Centerpeces ideas are done and bowls are bought for them
-DJ is booked(yes I know we dont have a date, the DJ is a freind of ours and this is his gift and his profession)
-officient is set(again, a freind of ours who love preforming weddings for free!)
-stationary bought ideas are a work in progress
I think that is it.....
June 5th, 2010 Chicago wedding here...WOW I am behind!
I have
Geez, reading over it I really haven't done much! Must getting going on that! ![]()
Well, I'm a July 2010 bride, but can I play?!
I have my ceremony/reception venue booked, and my photographer booked.
Other than that, I'm going to chill out for a while on other stuff. In Sept I'll start trying on dresses and have my bridesmaids try on some dresses. I'm trying to not do too much too early, because I feel like there are so many choices out there and so many decisions to make, I want to kind of soak in as much inspiration as possible and then pick from there. I'm afraid that if I buy things/make things now, I will find something I like better closer to my date, and will have wasted the money/time on the stuff I did early on.
DowntownGirl, you are not behind! I haven't reserved or bought a single thing! Here's what I've done:
This weekend my mom, FI and I are going to check out venues for our after party (dancing & hor's d'eourves)! I am REALLY hoping we find The One! It would so nice to add that to the list of "done's"!
What was the most pressing thing for you bees to get done? For me, I am paralyzed in fear that the "best" of pretty much everything will get snapped up, but my priority order goes like this: after party venue, photographer, DJ, caterer, rentals
Since the ceremony & reception will be in the morning, I am not as worried about getting vendors for those, because I think it is more popular to have weddings in the evening. That's why I'm focusing a lot of energy on the things that will go into the evening - the after party venue, the photographer, and the DJ.
For anyone who feels behind - it is not even June 2009 yet, not quite anyway. We all have over a year! And plenty more June 2010 brides out there are yet to get engaged. At least this is what I tell myself when I hope no one snaps up the photographer I'm thinking of hiring - being out of the country, I can't meet with her for another couple weeks - but so far so good.
I'm hoping to get a lot done this summer, but mostly because come September I'll be heading back to finish college and I will have a lot less time and be further from our wedding location. This summer I'll have the time and convenience factor of being closer, so I'm hoping to accomplish a lot! But everyone's situation is different and in the end all of our weddings will be beautiful. :-)
We have the reception venue (which will be doubling as the ceremony venue) booked as well as our colors (black and white) selected. But other than that not a whole lot! I have my eyes on a few dresses, but have not had time to go try any on! Also, been playing around with a few sites online for napkins, invitations,
My stationary I ordered for asking my bridal party to be in the wedding just arrived, I was thinking of asking them in September.
I look forward to the time passing VERY quickly :)
June 12 2010!
We have had the church booked to make sure we got the date we wanted, but now that I have the ring I can "officially" begin planning.
I have found perfect bridesmaid dresses, but am super afraid I will change my mind since it is still more than a year away. What if Jcrew comes out with something even cuter?
Also, have a reception site in mind, one that will work especially well with our "just desserts and drinks" reception. We have been collecting vintage plates and mason jars from yard sales and flea markets for a while now! Our first meeting with our priest is next week as well. I have plenty of ideas about colors and invitations swirling around my head, but nothing definite yet. I'm with everyone hoping to get a lot done this summer, since when I finish my master's in August I will be moving far away from my hometown where the wedding will be.
Yay for June!
yay! i'm not the only crazy one!! lol. :)
we booked our ceremony/venue site last october (very hard place to get, and we're getting it for very cheap compared to...because Mr JuneBride26June2010 is a caterer and has worked at this venue before...
I am currently working on my invitations (have the design, just waiting for when paper goes on sale at hobby lobby).
I have my bouquet done - bought all the flowers for everything else, just need to make them.
Decided on table centerpieces - just need to start making them.
Booked the photographer.
Will be booking the DJ tomorrow (one of my bridesmaid's dads owns a dj company)
pretty much booked the videographer (a guy i work with owns a wedding videography company and said to book him come january for june)
"booked" the catering company...haha this was technically the first thing done considering, again - Mr JuneBride is a manager of a catering business!!!
put downpayment for the cake topper (custom made, this is the one thing I'm splurging on)
yeah - got pretty much everything we need already set or close to. i'm going dress shopping on june 20 ... only a few more weeks! :)
I LOVE THIS THREAD! It makes me feel like I may not be as crazy as everyone thinks for having so much planned already. I actually feel like I'm a little behind now.
Now I just have to pay for all of the things I picked out haha! It felt good to get all of that off my chest. Back to planning!
K610, thanks for the reassurance!
I'm planning a wedding long distance, but I'll be home this weekend and visiting venues. SO EXCITED! And Mom met with a great photographer today! :)
Daniellemybelle - That's so great! I'm heading home in a week and in June I have a photographer appointment, a meeting with our catering manager (to see the venue!), and I'm going dress shopping with my mom and MOH, then probably bridesmaids dress shopping with my MOH as well. I'm also really excited to see her for the first time in about nine months!
I'm really excited to get home and actually do things! We're nearing our 1 year countdowns June '10 brides!
Wow! I'm so happy to see so many month twins here. We're getting married June 5, 2010 in Los Angeles.
So far, we have:
Progress has been made, and I couldn't be happier!! This weekend we:
- Booked a fabulous photographer! http://andreahallgrenphotography.com
- Narrowed down after party / evening reception locations to two, and put a hold on one because they don't require a deposit. The other doesn't reserve til November so we aren't worried about losing it!
- Picked out a caterer for the brunch reception, my mom is working with them now
- Spent a lot of time narrowing down ideas, including looking at rentals & talking about details :)
I'm so excited! I feel relieved that a lot of the "big" stuff is getting done! Did any of you bees have a productive wedding weekend?
JUNE 5, 2010 ...
