The timezone post made by so_said_ellie got me to thinking....I am noticing a smattering of Aussie Brides across the Weddingbee Boards, but where are all these fabulous Aussie Brides from?
I'll go first -
I live just South of Newcastle in NSW (Gods Country! HA, sorry personal joke from when I used to work in Sydney)
Albany, Western australia.. So when you get to perth take a 4hr drive down south. :)
Born in paddington NSW tho. So sydney represent!!!
p.s also my aunt and uncle live in the suburb valentine (off lake maquarie) in newcastle. So I travel there quite a bit!
@ccranetobe: I have never been to WA, always wanted to go but haven't had the chance yet. My sisters husband moved from Subiaco to be with her. Buts that my only distant connection :)
I told my FI about a month ago that when jetstar next do cheap tickets we should get tickets to Perth, fly over get married stay the night and fly home. He just stared at me blankly (not wanting to bite because he knows that I'm just fishing because we haven't set a date yet). And why Perth? well it sounded like a good idea at the time, I've been to Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide...so why not :D
I live on the Lake (in Bonnells Bay), thats sort of at the bottom end of the Lake when compared to Valentine.
@Firie: Ive been to bonells. Perths nice :)
My town is pretty rural.. Surrounded by beach. And its home to alot of things, you should visit! :D So this is the main street.. and by main street I mean the only CBD street in town. Every business pretty much comes off this street and we have no traffic lights at all :) just roundabouts!
this is out at Little beach. Kinda like your own little getaway!about a 15 minute drive out of town.

and this is the natural bridge.. and by natural I mean no artificial colors. Just some of the things in my town. I love it, but I hate having it to plan a wedding. I cannot find anything!!

Have i convinced you to move to WA yet???
Wow, its super pretty. And I love how the town has real character (right down to the street lights). It really looks like a picture perfect - postcard moment town!! Maybe I should just book those jetstar tickets and not give the other half a choice. :)
def book those jetstar tickets and your sisters husband lived in an awseome spot in the city!
Wow ccrane - your town looks gorgeous! I'd love to live by the beach! I'm in the Macedon Ranges - about an hour from Melbourne.
@ei_laura: *hi five* perth is rocking :) Laura what have you been up to? havent seen you on the boards lately!
I know love, I've been stalking every day I promise :)
Just so busy.
We're moving into our newly built house soon (yay!) but so much work!
Spent the morning calling Alinta, e-wire, Telstra, Synergy to set up our power etc, called Freedom to organise our furniture delivery AND managed to book a date to lodge our Notice of Intended Marriage!
Oh, and I just started a new job! Haha. :D
Soooo busy.
@ei_laura: you are an organisation queen. Hope you enjoy your new job and new house!!! new houses are always great and I heart freedom furniture!!
Life sure does get busy. Good to know your doing well!
I am bursting with excitement right now to find out that Charis and I are joined by ANOTHER WA bride!!!
I'm from Perth (as if you didn't already work that out from my excitement!!)
@ei_laura: where are you having your wedding, etc.? You are only 2 weeks after me!
THat's not actually my date, hehe, I'm not sure WHY that's there. I'm January 15 :) We're getting married in the Perth Registry Office beforehand, then jetting of to Ko Samui for our actual "Wedding". Super exciting. I get to have TWO weddings. And get to do all the things here that I can't have on the beach in Thailand (lace minidress, short veil, peonies, heels, photoshoot with my dream photographer) Eee! How about you girls?
Canberra girl here :) We got married in the Snowy Mountains though. I never liked any of the Aussie bride forums, was so excited to find Weddingbee even though by then the wedding was so close. And now it's 7 months later and I still haven't left! I've never been to WA, hopefully one day and if not it will be on me and DH's retirement drive around Australia...
thought I would bump this to see if there are any other Aussie Brides floating around tonight
Queenslander here! But family is based in Victoria now - getting married in Bright, about 3 hours from Melbourne.
Im floating around tonight... stuck at the computer designing rehearsal invitations and doing DIY stuff.
:)
I come from regional NSW, but I've lived in Sydney for 6 years. Not a huge fan of Syd, so maybe I should move to Western Australia!!
@ccranetobe: Hope your DIY is more fun than mine was - I had a brilliant idea for writing my invitations on folding fans. It was a bit less brilliant by the time I had hand written them all. I think I have learnt my lesson...simple is best!
Hi CCrane!!! Looks like your recruiting a few of us to WA
I'm flicking in between Weddingbee and researching Sizzix tonight. I am obsessed with it. I am trying to justify the cost of the pro size ($650)...If I can convince myself then maybe just maybe I can convince the other half. lol.
@MrsBridges: yeah i learnt that lesson too. When i did my main invites. Amen for photoshop. Im doing the rehearsal invitations now and browsing online for some unique ideas.
@Firie: whats sizzix? Im flicking between WB, Weddingbycolor and numerous blogs..
:D
Hi there,
Im a Sydney bride! So much so that my FI proposed while we were looking at the harbour bridge from the park just down the road from our house!
I was born in Perth (GlenGary Hospital) and spent a short time in the Gold Coast before the family settled in Sydney.
I travel ALL the time though for work. As i write this im in a hotel in Bendigo, VIC!!! and it is absolutely FREEZING!!! holy crap, i cant believe it!
Wow - that Sizzix thing looks awesome! Can you really put a price on memories?? he he
Perth is a beautiful city, a run along the Swan on a brisk autumn morning - ah, bliss!
@ccranetobe: its a die cutting machine that works with paper and fabric and various other things
@Firie: oo gotya I googled it. :D I want it!!
@Stevie: Welcome to the board stevie!!!
@Miss Sydney: bendigo of all places is crazy! hope your rugged up!
@Miss Sydney: Poor girl, Bendigo must be cold! I'm not too far away from Bendigo and it is FREEZING tonight!
Ha! Bendigo is like, 45 minutes from me - I'm going up there tomorrow with my bestie to find a dress for her for our wedding!
I'm in Melbourne. Suburb of Chadstone in the South East. You know that enormous Chastone Shopping Centre 'The fashion capital'? Thats my local shops where I buy bread and milk. :)
We don't know where we are getting married yet. We both have enourmous close knit families and no money. I was hoping to win the $50 million lotto last week, but sadly I didn't win, lol.
Hi all!
This is an old post but I thought I'd still drop in and say hello.
My home town is on the beautiful mid north coast of NSW, but I'm currently living in Newcastle. Wedding will be right in the middle, keeping a "neutral territory" so meddling in-laws have less leverage to get their way
. Have chosen (but not yet confirmed) a gorgeous venue which only allows 25 people (although I've negotiated up to 40) so we get the small wedding we want. No space for family to add randoms! I'm so excited about our venue! It is exactly what I have been searching for for years (literally, years and years)!
Don't know about the rest of you Aussie bees, but I'm wasting my Saturday night watching hours and hours of the election show! It is strangely interesting!
Hi, I'm a little late to the party, but I'm a Canadian Bride-to-Be with an Aussie fiance getting married in New Zealand!
I live in Sydney, Redfern more specifically, and i'm just getting started on all this wedding stuff. I have a while to plan so I'm hoping I can stay on top of things and not get overwhelmed. I'm a little concerned about planning from across the Tasman, but what can you do!
Did any of you watch 4 weddings last night? Such a funny show!
@ScarletBegonia: i watched :) i also insisted FI watch too - i thought that it would make me look sweet and normal and modest. he was gratifyingly horrified!
@blossom_bee: ha ha ha thats so funny i did the same thing with my fiance!! I reckon the wedding at the pub actually looked alright though - and for $5000!! That would certainly put some extra money in the honeymoon fund ;)
@pohget: hows the wedding planning going along? I missed your post last month. It was crazy hectic and i finally got married. EEP! Hope you survived the hrs of election tv since!
@ScarletBegonia: welcome to the clan!!!
about 4 weddings show... that show has issues!
@Roux: Hi! I know I'm jumping in on a 3 month old thread, but I wanted to say I'm super excited to see another Melbourne bee!
Hey, I thought "God's own" was New Zealand? ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God's_Own_Country
I love Australia, particularly Melbourne!
Whoops! I thought I'd filled this in.. months ago, but apparently not! I'm from Sydney - but the western suburbs, out towards the Blue Mountains. The boy & I are moving towards the Hills District next week though, so that'll be an interesting change of pace. Living in London the last few days has made it a little hard to adjust being back in the 'burbs again.. but I love it. Shame I'm not coping real well in the 40o weather!
@jaguar: Yea, it was 40 here on Friday. 40 is a particularly rude temperature. I propose it be banned from here on out. :P
