I really like the red and white one too, it's stunning! And still looks like a "bridal" dress.
I wouldn't wear color personally but that's just because I've always envisioned a more traditional bridal gown, but if you're into color I say go for it! It's definitely a trend right now and more brides are doing it.
Traditionally brides did wear color. It wasn't until the late 1800s that white was introduced as a symbol of wealth. Virginity was completely irrelevant and was symbolized by blue. White as a wedding color that was later changed to incorrectly symbolize virginity didn't occur until after the turn of the century and it was a fashion statement at the same time since every woman wanted to copy Queen Victoria. Up until that time, brides everywhere wore their best dress they already owned, usually in a jewel tone color because white was expensive and it was impractical for anyone who wasn't royalty to wear a dress only once in their lifetime. In some cultures, even to this day, white is considered a symbol of death and not worn at weddings at all whereas red symbolizes love and passion so is worn instead. Therefore if a bride wants to wear color, she has every right to do so and it's no one's place to judge if she does. UK and Australia are big on colored wedding dresses if you do a Google search for them. Alot of women actually don't look good in any shade of white or ivory, or they don't want to wear it for some other personal reason, so they choose an actual color that complements their skin.
If you want to, why not? It's your wedding! I personally wouldn't but I also prefer the traditional white. Colored gowns are getting more popular now so it's not like THAT strange. Go for it if that's what you want to wear! :)
I think you should do whatever makes you feel special on your wedding day. I voted "no" just because I'm traditional and think brides should wear white, you can wear color any other occasion and only get married once.
I did go shopping at Vera Wang in NYC for a gown and she doesn't have any samples in white because she hates white for brides. Go figure. I guess it's more contemporary and in style to wear color.
I once saw a wedding where the bride wore a colored dress and the bridemaids wore white. I thought it look pretty. I think colored gowns look kind of promy if not done well.
I will be wearing a non-white dress. I'm loving black right now.
I love colored dresses and I will be wearing a blue dress myself. The dress will be more of a pale/silver tone. I am definitely not traditional so I love the option to add an element of surprise and staying true to who I am.
I'm having the dress custom designed so no pics yet...
My mom wore a pale blue wedding dress and it was gorgeous. When I was little I always wanted to wear a red dress but as an adult I changed my mind. I think you should wear whatever will make you feel special and most beautiful. The trick is to find a colored dress that stands out as super special and doesn't look promy. Look at celeberties' red carpet Oscar looks for inspiration. those gowns are always so special. check out this website for some amazing dresses http://www.edressit.com/Default.aspx in customizable colors.
I always associate wedding with white or ivory, so I personally wouldnt' do color. But if you are really set on no white...go for it! The red dress is very lovely and looks bridal!
I was at a wedding this year where the bride wore a red wedding dress and she asked that all of the guests wear black and white. It turned out really beautifully and since the guests were in black and white, the bride really stood out. When my FI saw her he turned to me and asked me why I didn't want to wear a red wedding dress too. I guess I'm just too traditional so I'll be wearing white, but I think color when done right is a great idea.
This web site is all about colorful wedding dresses

All I have to say is wear what makes you feel like the most beautiful girl ever, because its your (and his) day and you can do whatever you want. Don't let anyone talk you into or out of anything. Happy shopping!
Brides from non-western cultures frequently wear color at their weddings. I actually almost bought the mint colored one below. :)
There are also lots of gorgeous, formal western dresses that could be worn as wedding gowns... because why not?
I would wear white but that is just me :)
I like the lighter colors, especially the last few you posted!
Why the hell not? Wear whatever makes you happy. There are some gorgeous colorful gowns on here!!
I didn't vote, but I generally vote against colorful dresses but also think you should do what you want. I'd just worry someone else would wear the same color! Maybe you can get the message out for no one else to wear it.
Though, I do love the muted green one above from bargello, and I think lighter colors look good. While I understand red is traditional in some cultures, I think you have to be careful w/ it if you are not from that culture.
What time of day is your wedding? If you like blue, do you see any light blue ones you like? Do you want a train? That would definitely distinguish it!
i'm loving the all-red (burgundy) dress you posted at the very beginning-- it's a gorgeous color! i'm also loving the black and polka-dot dress as well as the one right below (the muted blue one)-- both are fun yet have beautiful structure to them.
If you go colour dont get from bridal shop get a real gown ala celeb on redcarpet style
I think that paler blue bridesmaid dresses would look great next to a royal blue wedding dress!
You don't have to wear white you know. There are plenty of nice bridal gowns in gold, champagne, ivory. I'm sure that any of those alternatives to white would look good on you if white doesn't already.
i told my friend that i didn't want to wear a veil but want to wear a flower instead. my friend said: "you get to wear a flower on your head any day AND EVERYDAY, but you only get to wear a wedding veil once!" then i realized she is soooo right!
therefore, my opinion is to wear white, because you get to wear colored gowns any time and every time :)
I agree with ting ting that you only get to wear a all white gown once. Also I think sometimes color on a wedding gown cheapens the look of the dress. The only time i really like color is when its a sash or something small. I also agree with simple and chic if you really want to do color I might explore non bridal. JMP
You sure have a ton of inspiration pics! I say ROCK IT :)
I'm going to wear white because my FI is uber traditional & he'd probably be upset if I didn't wear a traditional bridal gown
I'm wearing a colored dress
Here are some blue dresses I found

So I briefly considered color - but it was too hard to find something and especially something that didn't just look like a prom gown. I really like the white and red dress.
