I would think the social security office would have a more secure way of sending out such important documents. I went in right after we got back from our honeymoon, they said it would take 2 weeks to get it, and it’s been a little over 3. So, I finally called today and they said they sent it out 3 weeks ago. I said I didn’t get it, and they said oh…. So I asked if that means someone else has it, and they said, oh no it would be sent back and destroyed. Hmmm…
I think I’ll start watching my credit report.
Anyone else have an issue when changing your name?

I didn’t have any problems at all. It is possible that something happened to it and the post office accidentally damaged it. Check with your neighbors to see if they got it, we have gotten mail for other people on the street before. I think it’s pretty unlikely it went to someone across town though.
If you are nervous, put a fraud alert on your credit. File it with one agency and they will notify the other two. It is temporary but will keep anyone from using your credit for a while because it will ask for verification.

I would suspect that the issue was more with the postal service than Social Security. I used to have a job where I had to mail a lot of stuff out, and you’d be shocked how much stuff the postal service loses/damages.
