Alright bees, time for some honesty here. For the working bees, do you REALLY work at work? I’ll be the first to admit – i pretty much don’t do anything. and I get paid a really great salary. It’s not that I don’t want to do any work, i just don’t have much to do. When I do have something going on, I’m all over it, but it comes and goes in spurts. I feel guilty. I’m not hiding from work, I promise! Hmm, I’ll have to flag this post for later when I’m really busy and wish i had a break – I’ll think back to the good ole days when I was on the bee all day.

I own my own PR company and work from home, so I basically work when I want to work. Sure, I have deadlines but I get the work done. For example, I worked last night when the kids were in bed. I worked a little this morning. I’ll work more tonight when they’re in bed. I didn’t have any meetings today, so I spent the majority of the day with my 2 yo. If I have a meeting, then DH (who also owns his own business and runs it out of our home) will watch our baby. I love having an insanely flexible schedule! DH is generally busier than I am as he has to deal with a few crews, but that’s part of his business. I get to deal with clients when they need me, which isn’t all the time!

I usually get paid to take up space but on rare occasions, I do have things to do so I voted “I do a little bit here and there”. I hate my job though and will hopefully soon be getting a new positions where I would actually work to earn my salery. Having nothing to do at work isn’t all its cracked up to be – sitting at a desk for 9 hours with nothing to do is torture!

I’m a designer, so my work is mostly creative. I find I work best when I take little breaks here and there (like 5 minutes for every 30) to just look at something else for a second before focusing back on my work. I actually found I work my best when I am at home and the television is going all day lol, but now I am in the office full time. My boss has never complained about the quality of my work or how fast I get it done so it seems to work for everyone.

I pretty much get paid to take up space–even when I’m the only one from my team that’s here! I hope after the wedding I can get moved to a different office where I’m needed, but at least getting paid to do nothing beats the alternatives (getting paid to bust my butt or NOT getting paid and doing nothing)!

Well, this time of year is the ‘off season’ for tourism (I work for a tour company), so the phones are quiet. I do have a few clients that I’m working on, but I’m not swamped. (Hence all of the time on the Bee!)
Come March, I won’t be able to get any free time during the workday. From March until October, I am busy busy!

On an average day I do about 15 or 20 minutes of actual work.
I think in the entire time I’ve been at this job the most work I’ve ever done in a day is maybe 3 hours.
I don’t get paid very much though, but hey on my first job which was minimum wage I worked very hard.

If there was an option for: “if i had work, i’d do that.” It is just terribly slow for me and I have been nagging my boss for work…but you can’t just make it appear out of thin air. And I can’t just go help someone out and lighten their load because I’m a very specific type of engineer. So i’m biding my time until something ends up on my plate. But my boss said 2011 should be a busier year for me. Damn i hope so!!!

I’ve been very distracted at work ever since I got engaged. I used to work all day every day. I work in the public sector ( Welfare) so there’s always work to do. Sometimes I feel like just not doing anything though since so many people seem to think that state workers are spoiled, lazy pieces of crap.

Oh man, I am missing my old sales job! I used to do maybe 3 hours worth of work a day. Now, I am a teacher and go non-stop every day. It is a good thing that I love what I do! BUT I also get summers off. So if you add it all up, it works itself out. 🙂
