I have seen quite a few posts from people saying they iwsh they had Photoshop or knew how to use it.
There are several good photo editing programs out there for free. Most are extremely user friendly with no steep learning curve. I use several different ones depending on what I am doing. That’s one good thing about Photoshop…it doesn’t get jealous if you play around with other software. 🙂
Also, check YouTube for great tutorials.
If you just need basic editing and photo organizing I suggest Picasa by Google. You can crop, resize, recolor, add effects, etc. It even has the feature to make one portion of the image color while the rest is black and white or vice versa. VERY user friendly. it is NOT a pixel-level editing program though.
For jobs that don’t need layer editng, Photofiltre does a pretty good job.
GIMP – Not a PS clone but does many of the same things. GIMP also can be used to make simple animated Gifs. Has filters, layers, text bending options, etc. GIMP can be harder to learn than most.
PhotoScape – does many of the same as above and can convert RAW images. Tons of features, extremely easy to use and play with.
Serif PhotoPlus SE is now free. You can find it on DVD on many of the computer magazines. The red-eye removal is one of the best to me.
Just do a GOOGLE search to find any of these and tons more…FREE!
What programs do you guys use?
