I think you did the right thing, especially since it was on the interior, but I hope they're doing it for free!
I think you made a good decision. If for some reason the order was delayed, you may not have received it in time, and since the stains are on the inside of the jacket, it hopefully isn't noticeable while you're wearing it - and if they're able to get the stains out, even better! Have you considered asking for a discount? I would definitely do so if they're not able to fully get the stains out.
You aren't crazy, and only you know the extent of the marks. I probably would have made them order me a new one, but either choice is okay. I also would have made them give me a discount, especially if I chose to have them try to get the stains out.
I would spot clean. They can get almost anything out these days.
well i'd be worried as to how it got there. i mean, if it came like that, who's to say that ordering another one wouldn't produce the same results, or something different?
i think you made the right choice, because they might be able to get it out...
Update:
I got it back. And "WA.LA...." it was gone. And I actually am quite impressed with the seamstress. Get it back next month...fingers crossed! Thanks BEES...you rock!
i would have chosen the second option and DEMANDED a discount LOL how do you have a stained NEW dress? seriously... WTH?
very glad it all worked out!! !:)

*sigh* So I walked in pretty stoked about picking up my reception dress for my wedding in July. As I was in the dressing room I slowly opened the clear pastic bag...unzipped the dress from the hanger and...WA-LA...there it was a big OL' (actually a couple) grease stains on the inside of the shrug-jacket. I slowly peeked my head out of the door as I wanted to be as far away from all the other brides trying on dresses...to no avail...not a person (that works there) saw me. Then a soon-to-be bride trying on some dresses, had seen me looking out of my mirrored door. (I must have looked strange being in a corner.) She went and got a sales associate who went to locate the manager who came over and gave me 2 options...
1.) Order another...wait...3 months (again) and grow more gray hairs...
or
2.) Have them spot-clean the dress...and see what happens...
I choose the latter. Am I crazy?
What would you have done?
