Just background, it was my aunt’s phone that she asked me to sell for her. It’s an iPhone 3gS, not unlocked, perfect working condition and only 8 months old.
This guy decides he wants to buy it, and when I meet him he keeps asking me the same questions over & over about why it’s not unlocked, it’s not jailbroken (wtfe that means) & blah blah. I pointed out to him, no where in my ad did I state it was unlocked & that it was sold as is. He kept me @ the meeting place for almost an hour debating over buying the phone & kept bitching about it not being unlocked but finally decided to buy it. I gave him my address (SO freaking stupid…WHY did I do this?? He lives almost an hour away so hopefully he wouldn’t come all the way out here) & my number to shut him the hell up.
So right now I get a call from him asking AGAIN if I ever jailbroke the phone (wth does this mean??). I again told him no & that the phone is in perfect working order & if he chooses to unlock it then that’s his deal.
I have a feeling he’s going to try & get his money back. There’s nothing wrong w/ the phone, I think he’s just annoyed that it’s not unlocked. Am I in the wrong here? I don’t think I should have to give him his money back over this.

No it was as is. I sell tons of stuff on CL and have never had any problems. If he calls again just dont answer

I would just say no refunds. Not like he could sue you over it lol.
You are not in the wrong. you told him what he was buying, he bought it. End of story. Keep a copy of your craigslist ad as proof.

Jailbreaking it is a program that you can run that will let you load non Apple approved apps on to the phone.
Unlocking lets you use any other carrier other than AT&T.
I’d stop answering the phone. It’s super easy to Jailbreak iPhones. If he wants to do it I’m sure he’ll figure it out.

I don’t think you need to give him his money back. Like you said, your ad was clear and he even had time to consider in person, and he made his decision. Craigslist isn’t exactly your friendly local Bed Bath and Beyond where you can return anything, no questions asked!

Thanks ladies. You made me feel better! I’ll just have to remind him again that it was sold as is. I really hope he’s not that stupid to ask for a refund over something like that, but you never know w/ people these days 🙂

If he does, just respond with a quick and firm, “Sorry, no refunds for products sold as is.”
