So I finally finished my gorgeous set, and I had all of them sized up a half size, and got them soldered afterwards…
Only now, it’s too tight! I can wear it, but I like my rings a little lose – my fingers swell a lot.
Does anyone else have this problem? What did you do? How much did it cost?

MrsPPP: I had my wedding band and engagement ring unsoldered after a year. It does feel tighter when they were soldered! My jeweler solders and unsolders for free so I don’t know what it costs. Would it look bad unsoldered? Do you have a picture?

I’ve heard soldering does make rings fit much tighter. I too love my rings a little bit loose so soldering isn’t for me. Talk to your jeweler maybe?

Soldering makes the overall band width thicker so you do have to size up as you woud with a thicker banded single ring. I wear a 6 on right hand ring finget but have a wide band ring that is 7.5 that fits the same finger -if the wide one was a six it would not even go on that finger!

Oh no. I never even thought about that. My fiance is convinced I’ll need to get my soldered once we’re married but they’re in my actual size (5) so they’d definitely be too small if they got smaller! Guess we’ll give it a try with it not soldered and see if I really need them to be or not.

When I got my rings soldered my jewler had me go up in size because of the thickness of my rings together. She had a thick ring to try on so I could make sure I liked the fit of the ring on my finger. Maybe yours has something similiar you could try on?
Mine was done for free. I have no idea what places charge for this.

You may not need to size up that much if both bands are thin. In my case the size 6 is a 2 millimeter band and the 7.5 is a 7 millimeter band plus my fingers tend to swell in the morning and with humidity so I need to accommodate that with the wider band as well. A jeweler should be able to measure you and show you some widrr bands to try on that will give you an idea of how much you would need to size up if you choose the solder of the rings.
