MissBreezy13:  I love my solitaire and I was super hesitant about the height at first but I got used to it. I have a 6 prong but Im kinda rough on my jewlery.

6 prong is more secure. You catch one of four prongs on something, that’s one corner and the stone could fall out. You catch one of six, you’ve got more coverage and less likely hood of losing the stone.

MissBreezy13:  when I first got it I banged it on everything! but Im much better now (its been almost a year) Im so happy I went for it halos just arnt my thing. I have a good jewlery insurace plan and a great local jewler so I have no major worries.

MissBreezy13:  My ring has 4 prongs.  On round stones I love 6 prongs but my stone is a off round cushion cut.

I think it just depends on the setting you get.  Stay away from cathedrals! haha

I think mine is a basket type setting.  its not tall at all.  I’ve never had a problem with it being in the way and I’m super outdoorsy.

I think 4-prong vs 6-prong depends a lot on the stone, too. Our jeweler didn’t want to make mine a 6 prong because of the size of the stone. I’ve been banging it against things for over a year now and haven’t had any problems. It doesn’t catch on anything that would concern me about a prong coming loose. I would talk to a jeweler about the differences before you decide! If it’s well made, it should be secure, and they can check the setting when you get it cleaned to make sure.

Mine is a cathedral setting with four split prongs. My stone is set pretty high. I like both 4 and 6 prong settings. But i went with the double prongs for a vintage look.
