Solo vacation: Where would you go?

ShoeGal89 :  I would probably pick somewhere my DH would have no interest in going. For me it would likely be an all-inclusive beach resort. My DH is not a “sit on the beach and read” kind of guy and would be bored to tears.

I used to travel solo a lot for work, and if I was going someplace I was interested in staying I’d often just extend my trip by a few days (at my own expense of course). Solo vacations are awesome! If your H isn’t a beach guy then I’d take the opportunity to do that. I’ve never stayed at an AI but if you really want to relax and think about nothing, that might be a good plan. Personally my favorite place to go is Folly Beach in South Carolina, but I don’t know if that’s the beach vibe you’re going for.

I traveled to Israel by myself. One of the most enriching experiences of my life.

ShoeGal89 :  I have taken many solo vacations. I backpacked solo for nearly two years in my 20’s. Nowadays if I am vacationng on my own I tend to stick to Asia, New Zealand or the South Pacific because they are close.

Hi there. I took two solo vacations in late 2015 and both were great! 😄 First photo is my balcony view from Alsol Del Mar in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic. Its a gorgeous small resort, quiet, never crowded, right on the beach (which I had all to myself a couple times), food was delicious, and was the perfect place to relax which is all I needed for this trip. Second pic is the back of Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Definitely more lively as far as entertainment and guest capacity, adult only, beach wasn’t packed but the pool usually was by late morning, food was pretty good for all inclusive and I felt perfectly safe venturing out on my own for an excursion there. If you want to unwind I’d definitely recommend Alsol Del Mar or a similar resort in Cap Cana. Have a lot more pics if you need them.

We went to Cabo in December and stayed at an all inclusive. It was great, so beautiful!

I travelled across Europe by myself before and loved it!  I would totally do it again if hubby can’t come with me.

Tulum! I think I’m going to go there with my DH this winter, but I see people taking solo trips there fairly often on social media, and it looks so amazing and relaxing.

Japan!!  I took a solo holiday a few years ago (I was single, before I met FI)

I really wanted to do something for myself and I loved every moment of it.  Planning on going back in a year or two and this time dragging H2B with me 🙂

I’d love to spend a few weeks traveling solo around Europe. Not that I wouldn’t be happy if FI could join me but It will be decades before he can take that much time away from work whereas I have more control over my schedule.

I just went solo on a womens’ surf and yoga retreat in Central America. Best thing I have done, I absolutely loved meeting the other women – strong, independent, amazing, interesting women. We bonded over the week and it was so fascinating to hear their life stories. Truly a life changing experience. Love traveling with my Hubby and family but there was something amazing about not having to worry about anyone else.  Am already planning my next solo vacation! Wishing you the best on whatever you do, go have an adventure!

ShoeGal89 :  I did a solo long weekend at a spa in Kennebunkport once and it was glorious. I would also probably pick a beach week if I were to do it again because DH wouldn’t feel left out.
