I'm not sure I understand... they think your fiancé is a stranger?
Some people are just rude. Just be sarcastic next time and tell them "NOOO ITS A COMPLETE STRANGER!!!" like you posted. Or straight out ask them why they said that. I have a big issue with people who feel the need to say things like that.
I think she means people are confused because her FI is Indian and she is white. When people see a photo of him they are thrown off because they expect him to be white?
That happens to my mom alot. My dad is Native American, but there was a latino lady at work ( I worked with my dad for a while) who told him his momma should be ashamed for not teaching her son spanish...
Then once I was at a school function ( in college mind you) and my dad came with us and one of the teachers said to me " I am sorry, your dad could not make it, I would have loved to meet him" I am short, pale with red hair, and I pointed to my dad and said to her, you were talking to him for half an hour". "he's not your real dad is he?" I was PISSED.
Oh wow, I've never had people react like that! I'm white and FI is black. That's really not cool - I like Ashley_B's idea of responding with total sarcasm.

Bah! I get sooooo annoyed when someone asks to she a pic of FI then when I show them they are like 'Oh him?' NO THATS A STRANGER I JUST HAVE A PIC OF HIM IN MY PHONE
For example, this morning I was volunteering at a drop-in centre for toddlers and their parents and I was talking to 2 moms about my wedding and they asked to see a pic of him and they looks confused?
I just don't understand why its such a shock... One of the women is from England and FI is anglo-indian but I wasn't going to get into it
Then about half our later I was talking to a few other moms (haven't seen pic of FI and assume he is white) and were talking about how my hometown is VERY multicultural (not in a good way) and never know how to respond. I just nod and walk away!
They jump to all these conclusions is their heads meanwhile he is a nice little Christian boy whose mom has an english accent!!!!
Drives me insane...
