Ok so we want my FI’s BIL to marry us. We’ve registered with ULC and his certificate is in the mail. Our wedding is in NJ and their rules seem pretty lax about who can marry you. The tricky part is that his BIL (and both of us) live in TN. So does he need to register in Tennessee at the county clerk or does he register in the county be married? If he registers in Tennessee, I think there’s a bunch of tax info he needs to fill out, but since this is the only wedding he’s preforming and I don’t think he’ll be opening his own place of worship, he wont be making any money…

Not sure. Are you sure it would be legal to have him do that sort of wedding if he licenced in TN and are you sure NC will let you? I just recently found out about his in this article:
Call NC and ask maybe or consult with a lawyer?

I’m actually getting married in NJ, which the article says has broad laws and after doing more research, I think its valid. Going to call the county clerk just to be sure, but looks like NJ says any officiant of any religion can marry in NJ. I’m surprised at how easy this may be..
