I was washing dishes this morning and keep hearing a dog barking outside. I knew it wasnt any of ours so i looked outside and i could see a white\blonde head sticking out of the treeline really far away. I whistled and she came running up to me. I was horrified to see the condition she was in.............SKIN and BONES. shes a lab or lab mix. we have had a lab before and she seems way to short to be full stock..... but anyway. Took her to the vet today and she is negative for all worms suprisingly. Everything seems normal for her. Just starved. Its gonna take alot of TLC to gain weight back on her but shes such a sweet dog I cant turn her away. I just hate when ppl starve their animals, then decide they dont wanna deal with them so they dump them on a rural backroad for someone else to care for..... here are a few pics of her she is seriously the sweetest dog ever.

yes we are going to keep her! she fits in perfect for us. DH chocolate lab (his BABY) passed away earlier this year and not a day has gone by where i dont hear him talk about how he wants another one. We have over 15 acres of land surrounding our house so space isnt an issue for us lol. our 2 other dogs LOVE her. she is soo sweet. Vet said shell be fine, its just going to take alot of TLC to nurse her back to normal. She is a happy dog, always wagging her tail, loves to give kisses and shake hands lol. right now we have her on a very bland , high protein puppy diet. shes doing great! shes pretty spolied at the moment ;)

There is a chance nobody starved and then dumped her. We once had a dog get out and we couldn't find her for WEEKS. When we finally did she was nothing but skin and bones, poor baby. We felt so bad! But it was nothing we actively (or really even passively) did. She got out and didn't find food. I think it is awesome that you are taking her in and caring for her. But just remember, there is a possibility that she is starved by no persons fault.

OMG that makes me sick how skinny she is! Poor thing. Some people, I tell you! If you can't take care of an animal, don't get one! Thank god she found you! Sounds like you will get her back to being healthy in no time! Oh and also, I have a purebred chocolate lab and she is really short (and chubby lol). My neighbor has the brother and he is much taller than mine.

I am a HUGE animal lover. I just dont have the heart to turn animals away. I drove my parents nuts growing up cause i would always bring stray animals home haha. we lived on a farm and i took care of all of them, so they cant complain right?! hahaha ......The 2 dogs we have now are also rescues :) I believe she found us for a reason.... our house is absolutely in the middle of nowhere and its kinda amazing she found her way to our house.

@Ms Hedgehog: i know that things like that do happen but i believe she was intentionally starved and beat. she is very sweet but is extremely hand shy. if you wave your hand around her she will hunch down and pee. Our house is secluded because its off the background that runs through us,and is surrounded by land we own but ppl dump animals back here ALL the time. its really sad :(

@Ms Hedgehog: That's what I was thinking, especially since she has clearly been taught tricks and is not afraid of people. I would at least attempt to find her owners and see if she has been lost for a long time. Poor thing

She did find you for a reason and I seriously have tears in my eyes looking at her pics.  The poor thing.  It's so comforting knowing you will give her a better life, the one she deserved in the first place.  I cannot stand animal abuse, it makes me SO freaking angry and sad.

@Ms Hedgehog: That's the same thing that happened to my mom's house cat. She got outside somehow & went missing for a few weeks. When I found her outside my mom's house by chance I couldn't hardly tell she was the same cat, she was SO SMALL! Now she is back to being her fat usual house cat self.

I am so glad you found this dog & so happy you all love her & she fits in so well!

... spoil her now, but not for long. she'll live in the moment and be happy to have a perma home, so no need to treat her better than your other pups once she's in good health.

    nice story though :)

What are your other dog's  names? Do you name them people names or more normal dog names? lol. That being said...

I like the name Honey because she's sweet. :)

AW poor baby. I'd take her if I could,I want a dog so bad. Its messed up what people do to animals because its so underpunished. I couldn't imagine hurting something like that.

@AbbyDabbyDoodleBug:I agree. Honey would be a good name for her. She looks like one :).

it just breaks my heart whenever i hear about people being cruel to animals.  i think she is very lucky to have found the two of you.  it seems like it was just meant to be.

i was reading a story the other day about a man that went on vacation for two weeks and left his dogs without food.  the dogs starting eating each other and when the owner came home, they ate the owner.  sad.

Just be careful to watch how much she eats. Don't feed her more because she is starving. I know it is hard and sounds mean but feeding her a munch can actually kill her. You have ease her back into it. Same with water. So, start small and work up to a normal serving of food. And don't leave food laying out. She WILL eat it all and it WILL make her very very sick.

OMG! I could cry! What a sweet dog. I don't understand why anyone could to that to an animal. God forbid they call their local humane society to find another home for their pet. I am happy to hear that you have decided to keep her. Everything happens for a reason, and this clearly shows it was meant to be. You will have to keep us updated on her health and post lots of pics:)

My sister lives in a rural part of MO, and tons of ppl dump their dogs. One happened to show up on her door step. Luckily the dog was in good shape and she was a very sweet dog. My sister called their to their local humane society and they were more than happy to take the dog and find a good permanent home for her.
