From continuing to change my mind about wedding colours/theme!! I went from my original purple and gold wine theme, to shades of purple and gold and lace accents, to not having a clue which colours to use. Im now at my current dilemma: I really like the idea of black and gold, however, I feel that it’s more of a New Year’s Eve theme and my wedding is in September. I’m also thinking about doing the typical fall theme/colours, since well, it’s fall!
What do you all think? If I do go with black and gold, will it be to New Years eve-y and not season appropriate? What is a good additional colour to use with the above to tie in for flowers, and other decor? or should I go the fall route with everything? I know many people will say just to use whichever colours you want no matter the season, but I want everything to come together nicely!
any additional colours/theme suggestions would be very welcome as well!
Thanks for for helping me decide, bees!!!!

@sariibear: STOP RIGHT THERE!
lol, that been said, IT IS YOUR WEDDING, not a seasonal party… Do what you love!!
If you love black and gold, go for it! To me sounds nice and elegant!
Once you’ve decided, STOP LOOKING, believe me (and read my posts lol) I’ve been like this about my dress 🙁
There is always going to be somethinh else!

@sariibear: I was having this issue too until I decided to get FI’s input. I wanted purple and silver. He HATES purple so that put an end to that. LOL
We are now doing royal blue, silver and black. We picked the colors together and even though blue is not one of my favorite colors the royal blue is an ok option that I am starting to really love!
What are his thoughts, if any?

@sariibear: i’m getting married in a barn (how original huh!) in the fall! I refused to do “fall colors” because it’s a fall wedding. Instead, the girls are wearing “linen and mocha” and all of my stuff if very muted, light colors. Light brown, moss, rose, peach, beige, ivory. There isn’t a theme other than “Stuff Jackie Likes” – if thats a theme? It’s thing I love, and if it doesn’t all come togehter, then whatever!

Thanks for the input so far!! I’m honestly so indecisive about everything!! Down to the point where if we are going to go out and get a quick meal, and I have to pick between a few places, it will take me a good while to decide.
he doesn’t really care either way. He was fine with whatever I decided, which doesn’t make this decision any easier lol.

@sariibear: I’m doing plum, champagne, gold, black, and blush. No, i dont think its too much 😉

You can always add the hint of plum without making it a “main color”. Plum is a very fall color if that’s something you want to incorporate more of a fall style. Ask your FI what he thinks, he might surprise you, mine sure did. He was the one who insisted on our colors lol

My colors were blush, black, cream and gold. I got married in October and didn’t use fall colors at all.

The black/gold/purples sounds SO gorgeous and SO elegant!

I voted for black/gold/plum. I don’t think just black and gold would be too NYE but I think adding the plum would be divine!

@MrsConnolly2bee: Seriously sounds like me. I’m doing a bunch of colours/themes I like.
It’s your day, do what you feel you will still like in 20 years!

I almost want to go with your first choice, as you first chose those colors for a reason, but I do agree with doing what you love.
Maybe take a step back and figure out other aspects of the wedding first.. like your dress.
Originally, my colors were going to be ivory, black with accents of pink, and with quite a bit of bling. It all changed once I found my VERY lace and pearl endeared gown… my dress is STARK white and I couldn’t see me sitting at a table making my tableclothes looking almost YELLOW [the ivory tablecloths i bought were super dark]. So I changed from ivory to white.. now the colors are white, black with accents of pink and LOTS of pearls!

I say go with your original choice/your gut. Don’t over analyze and over think it too much or you will stress yourself out.

@LoveLaceandWine: Nothing makes sense, but if you walk around our reception venue is filled, every corner has SOMETHING – antiques galore! Save the dates are modern and fun – and grey and orange. Our invites are fall, brown with trees and leaves falling. Favors are coffee beans “the perfect blend” (my FI is obsessed w/coffee) – escort cards are honey sticks “love is SWEET, find your SEAT!” (because i’m a honey freak) – and these are our centerpieces with burlap table runners! Table numbers are little frames we got @ the craft store that we spray painted ivory and painted the back black for a “chalkboard” look! Card “box” is an old (30lb) antique milk jug we spraypainted copper! I love everything I’ve done!
If I had an idea, i went with it. I don’t even care. It will all come together with our venue. I love it. He loves it. My sister doesn’t love it. Don’t care 🙂
