I’m planning my honeymoon in September and I’ve been trying to find nice hotels in Istanbul and Santorini, but everything’s so expensive! Can anyone help?
In Istanbul, we’re looking for something authentic, near the Blue Mosque
In Santorini, something cute with a view or around a nice location
I’ve just spend countless days and hours trying to search with no avail, so I’m hoping someone can help me out 🙁

Chromata Apartments in santorini would be perfect for a honeymoon. I don’t know cost, but they are worth every penny spent. Each one has it’s own amazing view, fabulous breakfasts, pool, great location. Use Tripadvisor for more suggestions.

We’re staying at the Absolute Bliss in Santorini. It was significantly lower cost than some other places with comparable views. It’s a bit out of the way in Imorivigli (sp?), but it has great reviews on Trip Advisor. We were a bit late looking for places, and in the end we decided to stay in top rated “B&B or Alternative housing” options recommended on Trip Advisor. I’m pretty excited, though I won’t be able to confirm the recommendations until we get back 🙂

we’re doing Greece as well. A week in Crete, 5 or six days on Santorini and a few days in Athens, maybe try another island if time permits. Our honeymoon will be early June 2010, and strangely enough things are already starting to book out.. I guess Santorini can fill up really quickly, esp in the summer months, so I would hop on reservations right away if I were you!
We were gifted a time share for Crete, and I found a ton of good places on Trip Advisor – I plan to stay at Anastasis Apartments in Santorini. Check out their website – amazing place. If its not for you, you can find lots of other ideas on the Trip Advisor forum. I just got back from Belize, and one thing I can say is using Trip Advisor will not sway you wrong. I saw so many places in person that looked great online, but we were turned off by the reviews – once we saw the places in person, we understood why!
Picking up a Lonely Planet guidebook is always a good idea as well. Their writers are usually spot on.
I cant wait to be sipping wine from the deck of a cliff house with my new husband! It looks like such an amazing place!

My fiance and I spent 2 weeks in Turkey a few years ago and LOVED it. We stayed at the Empress Zoe in Sultanahmet and loved it, but we stayed in one of the suites (the other rooms were very small). It is in a fantastic location (very close to the Four Seasons and a short walk to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia.
Here is a great site that helped me a lot when planning. I was very satisfied with all of the recommendations.
If you have any other questions about Turkey, send me a message. It’s a fantastic place to visit!
