So i just got asked to continue on a project that I started sometime last week. I open it up (it’s a CAD file) and as I’m working I keep thinking something seems off.
I go back through the project chronology and someone decided to start over and ditch the hours of work I’d already put in. Nothing was said, I was given no heads up or explanation so I have no idea what (if anything) was wrong with what I’d done.
The guy who assigned the project is out right now, I plan to bring it up when he gets back, but right now I’m ticked. I have a feeling the lead draftsperson did it. He tends to not pay attention and redo work without being asked or without telling people. He also says that he couldn’t find a file (that’s right there in front of him) and he won’t ask anyone anything.
GRRR. End of my whiney rant.

Ah, that’s really annoying! It would make me feel bad. I would definitely think I did something wrong. If I were you I’d ask your supervisor. Just ask it in a way of like, “hey, did I do something wrong?” rather than, “soandso deleted my work!”

@beetee123: @Billsgirl: He just came back, I asked if there was a reason/if he knew why. He looked puzzled so I showed him. He said that R probably did it – as I suspected. R does this a lot and it’s an issue. He said that we should ask R why when he’s back tomorrow (he’s off sick today). The work that R did is actually wrong, mine was better (according to my boss). So now I have to redo/copy paste work between drawings. It’s just an annoying waste of time!

I had an old lead that did that to me. I’d do something and then come in to work the following day to find he’d spent all night redoing it. He did this CONSTANTLY to EVERYONE on the team. It drove people mad. He eventually left the company; it was too much for him, and people were sort of pushing him out anyway.

@MsGinkgo: I hate CAD. I wanted to start with that lol.
I do editing and Im supposed to get projects that are complete as far as content goes and then it’s my job to format it to whatever standards are necessary (departmental, outside agency, publishing etc). People tend to go in and make changes after it’s already been submitted to me so I turn it in and then someone says “oh this isnt’ the right version” well asshole there should only be ONE version, MY VERSION, ya know the one you submitted to me for final edits?! so then I have to go and get this mysterious other copy that they have been changin on their own and compare it with mine and make sure I catch all their changes. I can do this electronically too so that help but man oh man to I hate when people touch my projects. Once it’s on my to do listmy desk, it’s no longer yours to mess with. go away!
